So many whiney babies on here "prove it, sneer sneer" I don't see you lazy people doing anything.

It provides cooler air, it won't hydrolock unless it's submerged, and he at least tried unlike our favorite integrators. Props where it's due.

A lot of people are running these types of CAI on the G8X platform. These developed products use proper plumbing and not tubing used to divert gutter water lol. Nice work trying though, don't let people hating get to you.

Intakes will never net a huge gain in power and are more for sound. I wouldn't run this in the PNW where we have heavy rain a lot of the time.

Way back when I was a kid I had an Integra Type R. The filter for the CAI was covered by the bumper cover but was in front of the wheel, only a few inches off the ground.

Deep puddles, flooding, was a concern for hydro lock.

Point of the story is don’t you have to be submerged for hydro lock?

I’m a big fan of intakes, always I’ve been. Love to hear a motor breath.

Back in 2000 when I was a kid, I got a new Civis SI and installed an AEM CAI that was like you describe. Inches off the ground and was always scared of hydrolock even though I lived in Las Vegas. This was coupled with a super charger. Escaped with no issues. Those were the days....

I don't think burger would sell this setups if hydrolocking was a concern..🙃
It sits even lower on the g8x

again, your mod won't see a massive benefit unless the tubing replaced the OEM airbox and connected directly into the intake manifold. all you did was essentially move the air filters to the front of the car and not change the routing whatsoever.

I'd say do some runs with and without your intake mod and datalog any discernible IAT changes. if the delta is large enough, than yes, I'd say the mod would be worth it.

this mod wouldn't do anything to help with that either. again. that weirdly designed airbox needs to go.

I have to agree with this - the routing of the air from front to back, then into the stock airbox, then into the intake likely negates any performance gains. It's just not efficient enough to be better than the stock intake, which is actually very good, except for providing sound.

Yeah he makes a valid point. The G80/82 does not have the air box.

I cant post to tell other member what you shared publicly that it does not offer power increases because you think it does because it looks like a system that is offered by a manufacturer?

Do you get it?
I hope you realize that adding open filters doesn't always get you more power. In many instances it gets you less.

Again if you have before/after dyno numbers to back your claim that is one thing, but simply relying on assuming you have more power because you did the mod is quite ignorant. You very possibly created more restriction or an imbalance in flow, even if the filters "can" flow more CFM's.

You missed the most important part of that quote

Gain up to 17+whp

That up to is usually put there becuase in order to get that 17whp increase you need other supporting mods, most likely a tune to achieve it.

An intake without the supporting tune rarely adds much more than a change in sound.
