Difficult to buy a new car from a dealer? Yes. Dealers are told by corporate HQ not to sell to foreigners. It they do, they run the risk of losing their dealership. But... you can buy a demo or used model very easily. As long as it's been registered in someones name other than the dealership, you can buy it, bring it across the border and enjoy the standard 4yr warranty. But back on topic, the dealer charges here in Ottawa: Freight: 700 PDI: 1300 Doc Fee: 250 Globali Fee: 250 AC Tax: 100 Tire Tax: 24 Total: 2624 That is ridiculus. How do car dealers get away with this? When I buy groceries, I don't have to pay shipping or inspection fees on the apples I buy, but they get shipped all the same and inspected too. |

That is ridiculous Does anyone know what dealers in BC are charging or would it be same as Ottawa's? When I build my X3 at BMW.ca it comes to: $60,600 (all packages, nevada leather, no HUD) that's not including the M-Sport package so I will assume it's about $2500 Is this a good estimate if I order in BC: X3 35i $60,600 (All Packages, Nevada Leather) + $2500 (M-Sport) + $2700 (Freight, PDI, Documents...) = $65,800 before taxes |

It's a bit hard to compare each others prices with different options and packages, but lets try a simpler version (percentage discount from MSRP and what taxes/dealer garges do you pay for?).
In Montreal X3 35i: - I got 2% off from MSRP - I only pay: $1,995 for Transport & Prep, $15 for Tire Tax and GST+PST. How about you guys? |

Just to make you guys feel better....
In Brazil, it would cost you over USD120,000 for an base MY10 X3 30i, and over USD150,000 for a MY11 335 sedan, base. I don't know the price for the MY11 X3 If you have a friend in the states that is ready to buy one for you... there is nothing stoping you from paying him for it and driving it up... you would need to pay taxes in the states and taxes to bring it up but there would't be any duties (NAFTA). There are a few companies that could help with the importation process as well.

There are rare times I enjoy living in Alberta and this is one of those times as we don't have to pay HST just the GST. I would have to reconsider the X3 if I had to pay $73,000 + for a fully loaded 35i

I did not decide on the tires yet since I'm still waiting for my car to arrive, but they should all be run flat for whatever season (if we have any other season here in M.O. except winter). Safety is priority, while comfort ride, expenses... are not nothing but all secondary to me. Any taxes and dealer's charges on your invoice? Maybe we can help others to get better pricing then anyone of us here if they know what they should aim for. Oh yeah, in Brasil they have nice beaches, Pele, coffee...... hard to compare regions as well. |

I got a 3.5% discount off MSRP...but I got a very basic model...basically a X3 28i + metallic color (mineral silver) + multi-function trunk tray. They exchanged the carpeted floormats for all-season floormats for free. That is it. If I recall correctly, after all the taxes, documentation fees, tire tax, etc...I paid around 50,000CAD cash...

I see that your charges are about $700 more then mine. You should consider the fact that Vancouver is a bit further away and as you said this is your first approach to the dealer. My first was nothing better then yours and I went to couple of different ones. Keep pushing and let us know how did it go. Good luck! |

I hope I don't get these 3 mentioned charges applied to me later when I get the car, but my invoice right now has listed these 3 items and the price next to them is zero. I guess, dealer can pick up the bill on those points or the rules in Quebec are different from those in B.C.
