Why would you choose to buy the non Competition model? I'm sure you can find the extra 6k.
Or am I missing something?

1) soccer mom or executive who wants a "luxury compact SUV" but has more money than brains and spends that extra to have the M badge and doesn't even know what a comp package is (see, e.g., some M4 and M3 owners in major coastal cities for coupes and sedans, especially LA). 2) someone who is stretching their budget a ton to get this car and that extra $100 or so a month hurts 3) someone who wants to mod the shit out of it and doesn't care for the comp upgrades because they are going to change those parts anyway 4) someone who really wants the comp but wants a more comfortable/quieter ride for neighborhood/family and don't care much for the fancy seats, exhaust, etc (see, e.g. part time enthusiasts who but the non-ZCP F8xs)

I was never a fan of the new X4 and the M version doesn't make it much better (the rear just isn't right and the rear lights are ugly IMHO). Definitely prefer the X3. They should've made the rear a bit more agressive, but apart from that it's a nice looking car.
I hope they'll offer full silver wheels as well, without that black inner part which make the wheel look flatter. But I'm afraid they'll offer only full black instead which is even worse. |

According to my calculations the MSRP will be 68 to 72 USD for the non comp X3M.

I know this is an ad, but to say that the rear spoilers on the X3/4 are needed to optimize street performance...

I give BMW M props for finally offering the Competition package exactly at the same time as a standard M model! I requested that for years, thanks for finally listening!!!
In my opinion there should really only be ONE model, the Competition as the standard model from the get go. Just make it the best you can. One model has less parts to engineer and produce, so that would bring the cost down for both the manufacture and the buyers. Also, I can't believe that you have to pay for the small carbon fiber bits/add-ons when you spend the additional $6k for the Competition package, for that tremendous price increase most should be included! |

Of course if you choose the regular one over the competition one, and then start to add the nice 21 wheels, the nice M sport seats, the nice M sport exhaust, the nice carbon package, well you end up quickly with a product more expensive. |

Comp model adds a lot of options that many people will already want: seats, exhaust, wheels, and gloss black trim pieces. On top of that you get a power increase and what sounds like more aggressive suspension. While I want all that thrown in for free, $7k isn't too bad. The downside is that extra cluttered badging!

With that said, after sitting in the backseat of a GLC, I could never buy one. It's VERY uncomfortable to the point that I suspect it was done to encourage sales of the GLE.

Has anyone noticed that the quad exhaust placement on the X3/4M is different from other M cars as of late?
On these they seem to be pushed towards the edges vs closer to center. |

New M3 spy photos tho still show it more centered, tho so may not be a more complete trend, but definitely noticed this too.

I noticed too, but prefer them to be wider since it gives the illusion of the car being wider. This is even more necessary since they decided not to widen the fenders at all, and kept 265s in the rear. They should be at least 285s imo.
