OMG! I just picked up the vehicle. A truly amazing car. I ordered one without even driving one beforehand. I was a little worried, but in the end I'm so glad I went with the M40i. Pictures to follow soon.

Look forward to seeing the pictures. Like you, I didn’t test drive either...still a bit worried. But feedback like this helps....a lot!

In terms of breaking the car in, should you keep it out of sport until you hit 1,200 miles?

I heard of that "break-in" period as well. However, my SA said its not needed. I think it maybe for the tires/brakes pads to settle-in.

Any thoughts Team?

I also ordered without driving one. My wife and I did drive the xDrive30i with M Sport option and felt that gave us a good enough impression that we wanted to buy the M40i, at least based on the tuned suspension on the M Sport.

I would read the manual and follow that.

The dealership said to expect about a 7 week wait. It just went into production last Wednesday.

Speaking of the manual; I tried pulling up the online manual using the VIN I got from my dealership's status report and the site says that the manual isn't yet available for this VIN. Probably the VIN is too new for the online system to recognize it?

Production takes about 10 days, then train ride to Oxnard for less than a week, then truck to your dealer within 4-5 days.
Unless there is some hold or major delay, you should see it within a few weeks.
Enjoy.

That sounds more reasonable. Thanks for the info.
