Interesting. The fuse tap I bought says that the fuse we tap into should not exceed 10 amps. And 46 and 47 are 20 amp fuses.
How did you guys do it? |

I imagine if your tap is rated at 10A there is no inline fuse and it expects you to rely on the fuse you are tapping to protect your tapped circuit. There are all sorts of tap kits out there, first one I looked at on Amazon just now was a 20A tap. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011I9QZX2 |

Open the large format images here and have a look. The second image with the chart may be on the back of your product as well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002BGELQ |

Does your fuse holder say FHA2 on it, or is it marked with a model found on the littelfuse info sheet I linked to? If you can verify it is an FHA2 then it should be good for 30A. Otherwise maybe go try to find an FHA2 or equivalent tap by itself rather than in a kit if you want to be safe.

Actually, sorry, the FHAs are inline. I don't actually see any rating on that sheet for your model. If you can't match it to anything best just pick up a new tap that is rated to 20A.

Ended up picking up a different fuse tap that I crimped on a female spade connector so I can disconnect from the stock escort hardwire cable which comes with a spade connector.
Used fuse 47 spot which I was missing as I don't have the rear lighter socket. It turns off after about 6 min after locking the car. |

There is a primary ground bolt to the right of the battery in the rear. I'm not sure where people are generally grounding in the front but any chassis connection should do.

I actually just alligator clip it to the chassis near the fuse box. I know it doesn't sound secure, but it actually is quite secure and has never come off in my F25 and so far not with my G01, even with all the jostling I experience on these roads.

Thanks for all the posts -- just installed the Blacksys CH-200 and a Cellink B battery. Other than the Koreans changing the definition of the yellow and red wires between the battery and the dash cam the install went without a hitch.

Verdict
I read all the posts here, just wanna confirm that F46/47 (cig socket) for ACC wire connection (power cut off after the Engine is switched off for 6 mins) and what about the constant power? which fuse number did you use?
Since I am in Aus, the panel where the front bonnet latch is attached with is blocking the access to fuse F46/47, I imagine you may not have the same problem if your bimmer is US stock. Any hint on removing the panel? Thanks |
