It's not just me, there are engineers in the field saying the same. The rules and regulations allow it as well, Horner and Binotto just want to protest it to prevent an all out mirror development war, and because mercedes's concept is the most effective version because it literally sits on an aero device in the crash structure.

None of that was true, Alpha tauri introduced the concept first. But no one protested it then, there are plausible reasons to this:

1) Because Alpha tauri is not a threat to RB or Ferrari, if they were then RB could just order them to back off to save the main team.

2) Because mercedes's concept is the most effective as it is sitting on a large aero device that creates a good bit of down wash and this is a great place to add some vorticies into the flow field.

How would you guys rank the teams (not drivers but teams) at the current moment?

I think the mid field will be super crunched up this year, there might not even be a "back of the field" team anymore, because everyone looks so much faster this year. If you look at HAAS they have gotten so much quicker and their practice times are even faster than their pole times last year. If you look at Alfa Zhou is doing so good, and isn't driving like a pay driver. I really don't know how it will pan out.


Even the front of the pack (Ferrari, RB, Merc and maybe mclaren) don't look like they're going to run away from the rest. I think this will be a really close year - or I can be totally wrong.

^ Just have to go by the testing that RB,Ferrari,AT will be in front with Merc an unknown, McLaren having a few problems with Williams may drop back and I expect Haas to go quicker. AM and Alfa who knows.

Sounds about fair, although I don't think AT will be faster than Aston martin or McLaren.


I would think at least 1 team has a DNF during race 1 due to reliability issues, probably Alfa.
