As my saga looking for winter tires continues I found out that TPMS sensors are not available aftermarket for now so I called BMW to buy from them, their response: OE TPMS sensors can be mounted only on OE rims. How did you guys solved that problem? Just run with the warning light on for now?

I have a question. I was told by the dealer don't use aftermarket rims.... (of course not).
what happens with the tire pressure monitoring system if I dont have them at all? just a small error or is the system going to go crazy? |

Just order TPMS from tire rack or your bmw parts counter. |

These are the ones you've got? Do they have to be activated or something? Or it can be done from the menu of the car? Last edited by Tecumseh; 10-17-2018 at 12:37 AM.. |

But to get back to the point .....TPMS can be mounted on aftermarket rims. They were just lying. The only thing that I can think of is that theoretically you could buy an aftermarket rim that isn't designed for TPMS. I would buy that story if tpms Had just started coming out in the market |

One other small note to the above; if you don't have tpms sensors in your wheels, you could Vo code or off, and will then have the simpler Pressure monitor system handled by the DSC sensors/computer. It won't give you exact pressure, but will detect a lack of pressure due to different circumference of the flat wheel.
Then in spring tpms can be Vo coded back in. Requires esys and enet cable.

Finally got the wheels n tires put on granted we're pretty much back to summer up in Canada today (+19C). Sorry for the crappy photos (limited room), but you get the idea. Kinda like the black wheels better than the stock ones. Not sure what this is gonna do to me when summer comes around and I don't wanna put the stock wheels back on.

BMW 20" style 695 winter wheel and tire package with the Pirelli Scorpion tires. These look nice with Alpine White, but the stock 21s match the silver trim and I think look better.
Any recommendations on tire pressures for this setup? |

Don't know how/where people are finding 18" wheels that fit M40i, as I am yet to find one site/company (UK) that offers 18"s that will fit.
Would love it if they did, as have set of tyres (235/60/18 from Q5)

It's strange, even mrwinterwheels say their 18's won't fit on the M40i, but there are definitely forum members who have!
