no need for that, lol. let us live in peace with our cheap crappy rims, buy your nice, expensive rims and add to the thread instead of detract from it.

I've had a mix of both on my vehicles for winter tires. For my M cars, I'll use OEM rims.

However, because I picked up this vehicle late in the season, there was only one OEM winter tire package that was actually in-stock, and it came with a non-performance set of winter tires. Cost was $7,200 CAD.

The wheels and tires that I purchased came to a total of $2,700 CAD, or about 1/3rd of the price.

In my opinion, having an OEM wheel on this vehicle is not worth the $4,500 difference.
Your choice of rims looks nice to me, works well on blue! BTW, I would not classify $2700 worth of a set of wheels cheap or crappy either.

Bought mine an aqua gleam water ioniser! Now just need a dry day to wash her off, give her squirt with the holy water and hopefully it’ll miraculously dry without water marks. I’ll let you know...

LOL - not sure why BMW will deprive M40i owners here in the US for those ///M fender badges... we can use those extra HP too!

Wheel Manufacturing and Performance Standards

In my experience The Tire Rack (assuming that's where the wheels in question were purchased) is a quality responsible company. I'd put my trust in them selling quality wheels that will do the intended job. There are two very good threads in the wheel and tire section on the E9X forum on M3Post that are a great primer on wheels. I recommend that anyone who isn't an expert on wheel construction and testing check the threads out.

Crash Course on Wheel Manufacturing Methods

All You Ever Wanted to Know about Wheel Performance Standards

Be sure to watch the wheel manufacturing video in the first posting of that thread. There's an eye opening testing video several postings down in the standards thread (#9).

+1 I've used them to buy winter sets for 6 vehicles now and yet to have any complaints in fit, finish, balance or durability.

Mounted the Luggage Net for the long trip over the holidays. A bit crappy compared to F31, but should do its job.

Also fitted my old 120cm Thule Aero bar on the same fixpoint feet as was used for the F31. No issues. Ski box to get mounted on top.

Read a post about tire pressure. Checked my 2 month old x3 and saw the tires were set to Summer - Other. Reset to 21” Summer. Also noticed that rear had 34 pounds of pressure. Should be 38. Fronts were OK. I try to check tire pressure every three months in all cars. Thanks to the OP about tire pressure.

DAMN! I am so sorry to see this. Please consider a dash cam for your future protection, mine saved me from a person that lied about her responsibility after side-swiping me.

Good call! Your post about that incidence was the last push that I needed to get a dash cam installed on mine!

Dash Cams

They can be set to run all the time, but most just turn on and save the footage for a few minutes if the car is shaken/moved. A front and rear camera should catch almost all miscreants. It's a shame that BMW hasn't set their 360 view system to record and notify you when your parked car is shaken.

As calintexas said, some record all the time when parked or some when there is any G-Force movement detected. Mine, a Vava 2K records only when motion is detected when the vehicle is off. My wife's is the Blackvue DR900 2 channel that she has set to record in a time-lapse mode when parked. You can do motion or time lapse options on hers.

Here are some fun examples:

And time lapse sample:

Casotakar - Sorry to hear. I'm sure you are terribly upset. I would be.

Nice videos of dash cams in action. I just reinstalled mine into my m40i yesterday. I have had it since 2015. I only have a front facing one. But have front and rear ones in my Challenger. Most of the time if you get a decent dash cam it has parking mode where it will go off, but if the car is jostled, the cam comes on and records something like 45 seconds of footage. And too, in a road accident, it can guard against the at fault party admitting to fault at the scene, but changing their story when they talk to the insurance company. That has happened to me twice. And in Florida, a no fault state, police officers rarely write citations for fender benders...

Since you clearly are familiar with multiple cams, what do you recommend? Front, rear, one to do it all? Brand? And do you hard-wire it, and where?

Thanks!

did not know that...good info. and I agree, the 360 cam would have been awesome in this instance...

I just can't believe an alarm or something didn't go off. I don't see how a dash cam would wake up if the car stays silent.

Thanks!
I think most members have the hardwired look as it hides all wires and looks clean/stock. there are a couple threads on here about dash cams...I will be using that search function this weekend.
