7,500 Mile Lease
I saw some discussions recently about a 7,500 annual miles lease. Is there any truth to it?

I noticed on edmunds that there is dealer cash of $2750. Do they have the ability to pass that on? Should I be able to leverage that for a larger discount?

Located in Southern California. We are shopping for a new vehicle for the wife. The following offer was presented yesterday for a 2019 X3 M40i at a Orange County dealership:
MSRP: $65,370 discount: $3,000 (approx a 4.6 % discount) rebates: $4,000 if a use BMW Financing. Reading most of the recent postings in this thread it appears 10% off of the MSRP can be achieved prior to any rebates. My wife also is considering the X4 M40i and our local dealer has one at an MSRP of $71, 270. It is a 2019 vehicle and has all the options she wants. My local dealer is offering the following: MSRP: $71,270 discount: $4,000 (approx 5.7 % discount) rebate: $4,000 We are looking at purchasing and not leasing. My wife wants almost a fully loaded vehicle and there is slim pickings here in SOCAL since she wants a white or silver exterior. The aforementioned X3 M40i is silver but has the Cognac interior and I think the two colors clash. |

Those discounts seem pretty close to what is available out here in AZ too. The market around here just seems to be right around that 4-6% discount. In the end I think a lot comes down to your relationship with the dealer, the local market conditions, timing of month/quarter end, and just luck. Remember that those posting on here with 10% or more discounts will be a much smaller population of those buying on a daily basis.
At the end of the day though, all that matters is that you walk away happy with the deal and don't feel ripped off.

I bought a 2019 X3 30i Xdrive Phytonic Blue Metallic with the oyster leather interior X-line.... has driving assistance, parking assistant plus, premium package with Harmon Kardan sound system. I did not finance. Price was $54, 900. I negotiated down around $3500 or so. I did get glasscoat, and interior protection package, extened prepaid service, and a warranty the dealer offers through a separate company. After all that and taxes, tags etc.... around $59k. I do not think I did especially well or bad. I have the one I really wanted, and to me that's what really counts. As a plus my wife likes it, so that's a really good plus.

Base MF rate is 0.00165 and for every 1 MSD it's a 0.00005 reduction for a max of 0.00035 for 7 MSDs.

Sry for the unclearness. It's .00205 before MSD and becomes .00170 after.

They're marking up the base MF APR of 3.96% (0.00165 x 2400) to 4.92 (0.00205 x 2400) or 0.96% per year. You using MSD is You using MSD on an inflated MF is : You using MSD on the base MF is You can and should negotiate the MF as part of your deal. Here's an estimated run down of how the inflated MF effects your monthly payments: 0.00205 (marked up) = 747.10 0.00185 (meet me half way) = 725.93 0.00170 (marked up /w 7 MSD) = 710 0.00165 (base MF) = 704.96 0.00150 (meet me half way /w 7 MSD) = 688.77 0.00130 (base MF /w 7 MSD) = 667.53 $710 - $667.53 = $42.47/mo difference over 36 mo or $1528.92 in total for the term of the lease. You can counter with a "meet me half way" on the MSD and save approx $21/mo or $756. Hope this was helpful.
