OK getting close. When I read the coding data to save ncd files I get this error:

Code:
CAFD_000006C6_003_000_002 Fehler:
CPS read from ECU "ECUId:VDC1_0x76" failed! [C070]
negative response error:
 code: TIMEOUT P2/T2 occurred
description: P2 timeout on Service RDBI_CPS has error in result: [Severity=2051][ErrorCode=58640][ErrorCodeDescription=resource not available][VendorCode=2142][VendorCodeDescription=P2 timeout occured]; LinkName: VDC1_76_ETHERNET
 severity: ERROR
 [2130765072]
Do I need to worry about this?

I also notice that when I read the ECU, the VDC1 ECU is red.

One more question: Is there a list of ECU's and what they pertain to?

If you can edit the .ncd, then no.

Generic question
When using Esys (I have an F30) and performing a connection - l see two versions of Istep available for use.
One of them matches Istep of my car and the other one is slightly newer.
My dealer just updated my car to what they claimed was the latest.
Q: should I be using the one which matches my car identically or newer one? What are implications of using the newer one which does not match the car Istep?
Thanks

I have a 2014 X3 F25. I have a communication problem with one of the EDC struts and I am going to replace all with Koni's so I just attempted to code out the EDC.

I unplugged the FDC module, used the VO editor to remove EDC (233), then went to the HU_NBT and made EDC inactive there.

So now I don't have the chassis stability error anymore but the car still won't stay in sport mode. If I put it in sport and start driving it goes back to comfort.

This is likely because I still have a fault for chassis when I use idrive to check vehicle status.

So here are my questions:

Was I supposed to do anything else to code out EDC? I couldn't find directions for the F25.

If I try to use BimmerUtility to read the codes it says it can't get data. Even after disconnecting Esys. So how to I get BimmerUtility to read the codes?

Remove 2VA, 229, and 223 from FA if present and VO Code DSC, HU_CIC / HU_NBT, KOMBI, and ICM.

Thanks Shawn. Unfortunately I'm having a problem connecting again. Initially I did and you suggested starting the car which worked. Now I can't connect weather the car is running or not.

And as I wrote above, I have never been able to get BimmerUtility to read the DTC codes.

It has been a few weeks since I last connected. The only things that have happened since then is that I have used this same laptop to connect to my Min through INPA and I have connected a normal code reader to this X3 to read and clear codes.

Everything else is the same. Firewall, AV, Wifi, and bluetooth turned off. The "Identifying Network" message shows when I start the car which changes to "Unknown Network" after a minute or so just like before. Connected via VIN and not using the F025 connection without the _Direct in it. I'm using a LEONI KERPEN cable purchased of Amazon.

The error says, "Connection check failed. Gateway/ECU's are not correctly connected or not responding. However Functions using the ODX-Data can be used. [G188].

Any ideas?

Are you connecting via VIN and not Gateway URL?

For now and until you determine WTH is going on, do not use wireless OBD dongles. Use ENET cables which is what I am assuming you are trying to do based on your post. The fact that you get a network unknown in Windows tells me that there is a layer 1 connection happening where you get a signal back from ZGW and at least on your end you have an APIPA address. You have to determine if ZGW is available beyond this by finding its own APIPA address. If it is not, no matter what you do, it will never connect.

Google this. There is an app called ZGW discovery. It discovers the ZGW APIPA address as well as VIN and if a direct connection is possible if ZGW is available. Ping any of those IP's reported by ZGW discovery with windows and connect via IP if a direct connection is not possible. Also, if you have ISTA, forget Esys for a minute and make sure ZGW is functioning correctly by using ISTA. I can confirm that 99 percent of ENET cables will work as it is, in reality, an ethernet network cable repined for OBD. I do not think the cable is the problem but if you have another one, swap it just to make sure.

Interesting. This looks like what you're talking about but I just see what looks like source files. No .exe or anything.

https://github.com/hartimcwildfly/bmw-zgw-discovery

If the zgw is not accessible would I be able to read/clear codes with a regular code reader? Have not had problems with that.

Ahhh... sorry buddy. What I meant was ZGW Search... That is the tool name you should search on google.

That is right. If ZGW is not available, you can't do squat from that point on unless you workbench modules. ZGW is the gateway to the rest of the modules...
Your problem could be Esys itself and perhaps ZGW is fine...

I'm getting DSC 480AC1 Coding Data not for hybrid vehicle after MHD install.

MHD says it's not their problem and I must update the module. How do I do this? I have Esys and psdZdata folder installed.

Also, I found the CAFd cheat sheet so i figured my DSC CAFD probably prefix with cafd_00000c18**
So I found serveral of them with varying byte size.
question now is, if i flash one of these whats the worst that can happen if incorrect?
