Hello lovely people !!!
My family and I are soooooo excited to move into BMW family. We saved every penny, we can for last 4yrs and my wife finally decided to get me my dream BMW X3. I went with lease for X3 30idrive with M Sports Package, Enhanced Package and Advance drive and parking assistance. Although it is a demo vehicle with almost 8000 miles on it. I see that I got a good deal. Since it is M Sports package, it comes with staggered tires 275/40/R20 - Rear 245/45/R20 - Front Since we have spent all our money to have our dream come true... Now I don't have too much money left to buy new winter tire sets... So, I want to know what options do I have if I have to go and pickup used winter tires from market place or kijiji (Canada). I do have tires and rims package with this lease. My questions - 1. What are the risks of taking after market tires? 2. Do I have to take the rims also with these tires which are being sold in after market? 3. Can I just put 245/45/R20 after market rubber on all the 4 existing rims? 4. I have this car for only 36 months. So literally, not many winter seasons left to drive to invest on new tires. So, what should be my ideal choice? Thank you everyone !!! God bless and stay safe. |

I assume you are leasing for 36 months. I don't know what you mean by aftermarket tires and risk, you can buy anything as long as it matches the size that should be used on your vehicle. It evens out in my experience. You save on tire wear on your summer wheels. So when the times comes for returning the lease, it will have enough tread. One time I had to buy new tires after 2.5 years, that is the worst. Check with some of the GTA local tire shops and get some quotes for 19 inch wheels+winter tires - for example simply tire north york. Michelin X-Ice and Brigestone Blizzaks run more expensive but there are other cheaper options as well. Otherwise you can also buy staggered winters because I'm not sure if 245/45/R20 will fit on the rear wheels which are 9.5 inch wide. Also factor in the cost of mounting and unmounting these multiple times over the 3 years - it might be cheaper to buy the extra wheel package and maybe even sell the alloys at the end of lease. |

Thank you very much for your response sir ! What I meant by aftermarket is that most people are selling 245/45/20 or 255/40/19 set of RIMS and TIRES on marketplace of Kijiji... They claim that it can fit into my X3 as all X3 comes with 5 bolts and 120mm (I don't know what that means here). But these are at 50% lesser cost than what any Canadian tire or local tire shop will cost me... So, I'm not sure if it is a good bet to try on these tires + rims sale. Will they do any harm on the vehicle overall if I fit the rim and tires of 19 inch (not necessary same specs as I have now)? Thank you again ! |

The OEM size for 19inch on your X3 is 245/50/19 as far as I am aware. You need to select a size that has the same circumference as this one or very close to it. Use a site like https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ to figure this out. |

The current size are - 275/40/20 (8Jx20 ET27) 245/45/20 (9.5Jx20 ET43) Is there anywhere I can check if with seller of these RIMS to tell me where do they find 8 or 9.5... I was told that I can still put 245/45/20 winter tires on square setup by Costco and Canadian tire guys. Is that worth it? I checked on the site... Looks like I have to purchase the tires (only rubbers) which are with 1% margin. Else, just find the RIM with Tire sale where the bolt is 5X112 (Where do we find this info on the RIM about 5X112? |

https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/c...rim-size-chart Read through this thread, lots of people have indeed done a 245/45/20 square setup if I remember. But I'm not an expert on this. |

I've been looking for a new set of wheels too, I noticed in the X3 forum there isn't a sub-forum like Technical or some sort, have to search and read one by one, this is the only one thread, thankfully.

Is TPMS mandatory to put on winter tire package?
What will happen if we don't put on TPMS? Any warranty issues? Any vibrations? Or just some beep and light in the dash? I've X3 2020 with M Sports package. |

Many thanks Sir !
This definitely helps and saves a huge cost. If you don't mind - Are all 5X112 RIMS a good fit for my X3 2020 with M brakes? I'm looking in facebook market place where people are selling their 1 season used rims and tires for cheaper than the market price. But few have warned that it might not fit due to brakes being bigger than other BMW X3s... What should be your suggestion here? Thanks again ! |

5x112 is the spacing of your wheel lug nuts or lug bolts. That would never tell anyone if the wheel would fit or not rub or hit your big brakes.
You need to look at offset for that and wheel diameter.

I had to inspect this also. Lol it's because the wheels have black lips the blend in with the chunky tires it seems.

exactly this, I may have to go with a more matte tyre shine to really differentiate the tyre, but I'm stoked with how it turned out.

Overall, because of the tall side profile & aspect ratio for these cars, I don't like the full blacked-out look with rims. Even with BMW's strong efforts to build definition with the light-catching lips on the body, it's still a sh**tload of visual mass. So the black-and-turned 701M wheels help to create some definition where it counts: low on the profile where it visually lowers the entire stance of the car. But everyone's got their own taste |

Check out Vossen wheels. They have a nice selection of wheels and colors. Thats what I'd get if I choose to replace my 21". The cheapest ones start around 5-600 a piece though. Look through there BMW gallery.

Awesome job there, nice to see you have pushed the limits a bit more with offset, width and tyres sizes. The standard sizes are so far in the guards, glad to finally see a few people eliminating that gap! |
