You can purchase them directly from BMW now. 51-14-2-472-833 for M40i and 51-14-2-472-831 for X3

Is that replacement grills completely closes off the kidney slats area? No more air flows through? If so then are the active shutters behind the kidney grills, are they just gimmicks?

I wouldn't call them gimmicks and if those grilles don't in fact open at all I would highly question how suitable they are for the airflow of the X3.

Next up is gloss black trunk badges and a black repaint of the wheels.
Those wheels are kinda controversial, even they do reduce air resistance but really not looking good 😌.

Agreed. The shutters behind the grilles are designed to open on purpose to permit airflow when needed. Keeping the shutters permanently open is one thing (you're still allowing airflow), but blocking the airflow altogether with that grille can't be a good idea.

it is an open grill. it looks closed because of the angle and i have the active shutter system and that is current closed.

Here you go. you can see the active shutters closed behind the grill

I sourced these from aliexpress here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001826919684.html

you can see the openings here.

i will say this forum is definitely a different crowd from the f30 forum when it comes to mods.

I didn’t get any recommendation. I have been doing it for years, to improve tire wear evenness and fuel economy.

Cerium delete almost complete. Everything wasn't done today, but it was in the last week.

Added eBay special gloss black fender M/// badges (I'll see how they hold up). If they start to fail; I'll just remove them.

Ordered BMW X3M mirror caps and mounting rings. Painted them outdoors using 2 stage and a mini HVLP gun.

Then today I installed the mirror assemblies.

Unfortunately I had a $450 "oops" while performing modifications..

And saved the "hardest" modification for last.. I installed a newer +'19 X3M40i thicker steering wheel and airbag. It's SOOOOOOO much nicer to drive the cruck now.

Don't feel bad, those mirrors are easy to break when you're changing the mirror caps.

I'm just glad I never broke the drivers mirror as well.. cause that could've been expensive.

That seems excessive... Rock hard ride, poor traction and all for what, maybe +10k out of a set of tires. Tires are a wear item and 32psi versus 50psi is a huge difference in just comfort alone. Not to mention you're already on Runflat tires.
