How important are options like drive recorder and remote start when placing an order? Are they must have and would they be used enough to warrant the cost? I’ve never had remote start but would be nice to remove heat in vehicle down here in Florida.

Drive Recorder is more dubious. You may be better off with a dashcam if so inclined! |

Mine did not come with drive recorder, but it came equipped with the necessary hardware to use it. I downloaded the free one month trial subscription, then paid for it. It cost more than if the car had been ordered that way. Off the top of my head, maybe $150 instead $100.

You can buy them anytime after the car is delivered. Cost may be more than if you did it at time of order, though.

Stupid question, why does the mpg drop so much but rpm does not increase when driving at high gear and hitting the gas? How is it possible for RPM not to go up when you are coasting at M8 gear and you give some gas so M4i starts roar.. No change to RPM, mpg is in floor!
I can understand if it was Power indicator but I am referring to RPM. I was going to post a video but it's not allowed on app.

Here's one. Does the G01 X3 have any warning that the oil is overfilled? I mean short of the engine blowing up? I know the iDrive accuracy is questionable, and I've heard that the dealership tends to be "generous" when they fill.
The reason I'm asking is that after our drive home today, we took my wife's Q5 out to go to Home Depot and when she pulled back into the garage I asked her to run the oil level app on her MMI. It immediately came up and said something like "The morons at the Audi dealership overfilled me. Drain some out...." Okay, so I'm paraphrasing. |

As you know, on recent Audi's you suck the oil out with a Mity-Vac when doing an oil change, this allows you to use one of these handy devices called a f____g dipstick. If only BMW had this feature it would be perfect. There's nothing like using a dipstick to check the oil level. |

Does anyone know the first month and year the X4 G02 was produced?
I was looking at a 2019 model used and I ran the VIN on mdecoder and it came back that it was built Jan 2018. Can that be right? I know it’s a 2019 because of the new design but how could it be built Jan 2018? Did they build the G02 that early for 2019 model year? |

I forgot to add remote start to my build. But was able to add mine through the my BMW app. It was $30 more than adding it in the original build. Just glad I was able add it through the app. I live in Southern California were it comes in handy especially in the summer.

Stupid tire questions follow:
Thinking about the M-sport diff on the X4 M40i. This selection demands a "low profile" 20" tire. BMW warns that these tires could be much rougher and risks vehicle damage. Is a non-run flat "low profile" significantly rougher than a run flat? Can I put non-low profile tires on later? Are the OEM 20" non-run flats (Pirellis I think?) OK in the wet? What about winter? Ultimately I'm trying to make a call before I order, so any input will be appreciated. Last edited by FlyingAlpaca; 04-26-2024 at 11:15 AM.. Reason: Clarity |

Can you put the car in park at speed?
I always rest my hand on the shifter and sometimes get paranoid over the possibility. Once I did something n accidentally shifted into neutral while driving. Unfortunately there’s just no where else for the non steering hand to go (other than maybe the steering wheel). |

Run-flat results in a stiffer ride because the sidewalls of the tire are thicker so the tire can maintain shape if deflated. Yes, you can put on non low profile tires after but need new rims. Officially M cars can go to 19" but many here put on 18" rims. In winter run-flat and non-run-flat doesn't really affect the performance. Things like tire make/model/type and size are more important.
