I’ll definitely try to get some with respectable quality. To be honest
, it didn’t make it as loud as I expected. I left the mid muffler for now. I think adding a DP to the setup will be perfect for my liking. It changed the tone deeper and added a decent amount of volume but nothing obnoxious, by any means. I’ve done similar setups on other vehicles that resulted in much more overall volume. I’m happy with it as I know the DP will add what I want.

Sounds like a plan. I'd love more noise out of mine too but nothing obnoxious either. DP should do the trick and something I think I'll start with. Appreciate phone mics never quite capture exhausts well but looking forward to some clips nevertheless.

Anyone found any new options out there for a 2022 X3M40I Exhaust that bolts from the Downpipe back without cutting?

daHler makes a nice one and is currently in testing for the 2022, Still a few months out, but cutting will be required.

Fi Exhaust makes one today that bolts from downpipe back, no cutting

Akrapovic doesn't show one yet.

Any others?

A reputable fabrication shop should be able to make you a fully bolt on exhaust designed to your liking. Slide out the exhaust from the downpipe back and they start from there. Do some searching in your area.

I reached out to Armytrix and they have a turbo back and cat back option, they just finished testing and should be available next month to purchase. I did confirm with them it will indeed fit the 2022 LCI M40i.

Right on! Thank you.

Wonder which is better the Armytrix or the Fi exhaust?

You’ll probably have to sell the wife’s kidney for the Armytrix exhaust.

Looked under the back of my 2022 LCI M40i and there is 1 actuator for the left side entry of the rear muffler than opens on cold start then closes, the right side stays open all the time..

I am getting a CG Precision valve controller VSC-1. Anyone else using one?

Just remove the valve?

Great thread! Lots of info.
But I'm wondering about something a little more permanent?
I'm thinking about just taking out the actuator and replacing it with a slip joint. A muffler shop would cut out just enough to leave room lengthwise for a slip joint. The wiring would be just taped and moved out of the way. The fuse remains intact.
Then if I wanted to reverse it, I would remove the slip joint and weld back the actuator and connect the wiring.
I think this can be done with muffler still on car relatively inexpensively. My photos (stock photos off internet) show the cut area and the typical clamp.

Opinions: Would this work? Thanks

What would be different than if you just disconnected the valve fully open? Quite literally, no benefit from putting this additional part in.

No difference in end result but I'm still a bit confused about when to pull the fuse. Some folks here think the flap on MY 22-23 is controlled by driving mode AND engine speed. The latter is making me wonder how to get the required engine speed (ie 3000 RPM) while in sport mode, and then pulling the fuse. To pull the fuse is easy enough but won't the flap revert to a closed position once I shut the engine off even in sport mode?
If not, then pulling the fuse is obviously the easiest, quickest way to go.
Advice please...thanks.

If you're looking for more noise, a high flow downpipe does the trick quite nicely. Adds volume and some rasp, no need to touch the rest of the exhaust system imo.

Put it in sport mode in park and wait until the engine warms up for a few minutes and it should open fully. If you remove the fuse, you're removing the power supply used to open and close it, so how is it supposed to close if there's no power? Also you could just disconnect it physically and use the dummy plug and tie it off to the side. If you have a 2020 and 21 I believe, there is an engine sound setting you can set to sporty and it will stay open as well.

So I leave the engine running as I'm pulling the fuse. OK then. I'm going to try it soon. THANKS!
BTW...MY '23 doesn't provide a "sporty mode" but "depends on conditions" mode instead.

So yeah. Put it in sport plus and wait a few minutes. You should be able to feel exhaust on the left and hear more exhaust from the back

Hey

I’m not getting drivers side valve to open AT ALL

I’m at operating temperature in sport…nada

This is frustrating tf outta me which means soon I’ll be texting tf outta Burr001 to fix it from 5500 miles away

I’ve read the thread

I was wary of going into expert mode on Bimmercode to open it but I think that might be my only way

Installed the CG Precision valve controller VSC-1.

With the valve fully open its not as loud as I thought it would be.

Was going to get 1 of the resonator's deleted (I assumed there was a small oval shaped one upfront and hotdog style one mid way down the exhaust which I was going to remove), but there was only 1 up the front with a single inlet and dual outlets so didn't have it done. This is on a 2022 LCI M40i.
