Esys and Apple Carplay
Hi Shawn,
I just picked up a 2017 X3. I am hoping to update some of the software and/or options. I ordered a Enet OBD Cable and a Wifi Antenna. Can you assist me in locating the ESYS software? I would also really appreciate any advice on adding Apple Carplay software and updated Nav maps? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance! Last edited by Grips; 11-09-2020 at 08:52 PM.. |

Help Needed
Hi gang,
I screwed up my 2017 X3 when using Esys for the first time. I'm hoping someone can help me out or give me advice. Here is what I did... I ran Esys and before doing anything I backed up the FA, SVT and all CAFD files. My goal was to enable DVD in motion and Android screen mirroring. Based on the Cheatsheet. I was looking for HU_CIC but could not find it. I tried to look in HU_NBT2 to locate the "speedlock" settings to no avail. I was examining "CAFD_00001ef6...014" to locate settings. At some point, I mistakenly clicked on "code default values" thinking It would bring up a file to examine but instead it started writing to the vehicle. Upon completion, my whole Idrive system was black and unresponsive. I was able to reconnect and noticed that the CAFD file was no longer present under HU_NBT2. I was able to restore that file and my Idrive system came back to life. Phew! Unfortunately, my Nav now requires a key to be activated. Is this something I can fix based on my backup FA or SVT files? Can I ask a dealer for the code for my car since it is under warranty? If so, what can I say happened that is believable without telling them the truth? I haven't driven the car since and is there something else I may have deactivated in the process? All my previous settings (ie radio, Bluetooth connections) seem to be the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Losing sleep over this is not fun! Thanks |

Hello. YouTube sent me here! I’m looking to add CarPlay to my 2017 3 Series and found a source online, but they want $400 and have to pay a “discounted” price if it’s ever updated or flashed by the dealer. Is it possible to get this done with eSys? I already have the WiFi antenna and my head unit is compatible. If so, shawnsheridan may I please receive the Links and instructions for eSys setup? Much appreciated. I’m a new member, but once I post this reply I believe I’ll be able to receive PM’s. Again, many thanks.

Shawn, what is the difference between two versions of F020 when selecting Target to connect? Is the 540 just a newer psdzdata version of 520? Does it matter which one I connect with?
Using v.4.26.22_PSdZData_Lite I noticed when checking the "dist" folders that I have 2 versions of each psdzdata chassis folder. Attached 2nd screenshot below. Thank you in advance |
