Tomorrow I am testing the LCI driver assistant plus trim on the M5 driver assistant professional wheel that I have.
What year do you have???? 2020 and up do not have a vibration generator in the wheel. It is done solely by the electric power steering rack. Also judging how you swapped a wheel into your vehicle, If you have a 2018/2019 then the issue is that the vibration motor is missing because you got a wheel from a 2020+ car that doesn't have one due to reasons I stated previously.

M Sport wheel installed, stupid me got the one without vibro, ugh!

Throwing errors about the missing vibro, and deactivating the lane departure warning system. Still drives, and I'll be ordering the parts necessary to fix the wheel.

I can't clear the warning, but can I code it out?

By the way, the wheel is so much better than the stock wheel, I love it.

Got the new vibro motor and assorted parts, wheel is now working perfectly. So glad I made the change.

Has anyone figured out the issues surrounding the restricted Driver assistance?

I purchased a non-LCI X3M steering wheel (Part# 32308097999) to replace my pre-LCI MSport steering wheel and connected everything however getting the following errors...

Lane Departure
Lane Change
Side Collision

Using the same buttons as previously used.

Is this a coding issue or is the wheel not compatible?

If I'm reading well, you ordered a pre-lci wheel for your pre-lci car, with the same options, and on top of that you are using your old button trim.
Should fit right out of the box, no coding necesary.

Most probably you have the same issue as me and mclark2112, which is you are lacking a vibromotor in your steering wheel. You need to get vibro motor and "wheel computer" needs to be replaced (most probably the one you have does not have a slot to plug the vibro motor in it)

Yes, both came from Pre-LCI cars, I fitted the vibro motor from my old wheel (assuming that's the white unit that sits on the bottom spoke) all the wiring and hardware was transferred and plugged in as per previous wheel.

im stumped

Did you swap over the steering wheel module too and everything?

Would my 2020 (dec 19 build) have the vibrator in the wheel or column?
I’m thinking of oredering a new wheel…and vibration function is extra.

2020 has it in the EPS steering rack. Not in the steering wheel.

Awesome. Thanks. I’ll save myself $250 not getting the vibration in the wheel if I don’t need it

At a loss...

Alright everyone - I think I'm thoroughly confused now.

I've got a 2018 M40i and bought an M sports wheel on eBay (didn't see this thread and the posts on where they may come from. https://www.ebay.com/itm/274552018118) - but was delivered and didn't have any issues on the swap out.

Figured I was getting the exact wheel I had but the M sport model (gotta love the looks and feel of it). Heated, paddles, driving assist plus, vitro function and the correct air bag.

Things worked well when I started the car back up until I hit the driver assist button for steering and lane control. Then I start to see error messages pop up. I don't think it's pre/post LCI with the model I have/bought, but I'm not sure at this point.

Note - the lane departure warning/vibration and steering correction does work (just test it out before posting this) - so not sure what the error indicates besides the fact the graphics don't show on the display panel indicating the system isn't fully engaged (as the warnings suggest).

What am I missing?

Tossed a pic of the old wheel for reference if that helps.

**Edit** - Not sure what's up the the rotation of the pics...sorry about that

Could it be the touch sensor in the new wheel?

Could be Njerts , guess I just presumed since it had driving assist+ and the vibrate motor listed in the listing it would have them.

Don't suppose there's a way to code that out is there to see if that's the case or how do I check at this point? Any ideas?

Sorry, I have no expertise in that area, but I am sure you would not be able to code it off. It is part of the safety system that ensure you are awake while on cruise.

Thanks anyway! I'll have to keep checking it out. No idea if I got screwed or not. Eitherway - love the feel and look of the wheel!

I am also looking for a wheel. When I ordered my 2018 m40, I took the ultimate package (Includes everything) and it arrived without the msport wheel. Still a bit raw about it, but I moved on.

Not sure specifically what went wrong but you can buy a module on eBay for hands on detection emulator. This is what I did when I went to an M Performance wheel. I installed it connected to where the hands detection module would be. Works flawlessly.

I'll have to give that a go! Anything specific to look for in the module or just basically use the terms in your post? Lol

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HOD-Emulato...-127632-2357-0

This is what I purchased. The company contacted me asking for which module I had in my steering wheel before buying. They sent me one and it didn't work properly on switch 1 2 or 3 so I contacted them again and it turned out I needed a different module. They sent me the different style new module and this new module on switch 1 works perfectly. The first one wasn't defective, they said it was designed for a different hands on detection steering wheel(i think maybe it was for a driver assistance professional car not driver assistance plus). The company was very prompt and communicative and I definitely recommend if you want to get this module. Very fast shipping both times and no issues at all.

Not sure what I should do now with my mis-informing posts - should I delete those? :-/
Hello.
I have read whole post and watched all videos. My question will be…why you dont transfer all internals include vibromotor and vibro electronic module from old steering wheel to new LCI wheel?

Have you finished your project and now everything works fine?

please let me know because i have preLCI g31 (with driving assistant plus) and have opportunity to get LCI wheel with driving assistant professional.

I was planing to buy this trim (https://www.msparts.eu/en/steering-w...ing-wheel.html) and transfer all internals…

What do you thing ? Or i just buy new lci buttons with driving assistant plus https://www.msparts.eu/en/steering-w...om-kolese.html
