Default Volume setting
Is there a way I can reduce the volume on my infotainment on startup? Now it is too loud, every time I start the car and should reduce it manually

You can code the maximum volume at startup with Bimmercode. I changed mine from 25% to 20%, but IIRC you can also choose 15%, 10%, and 5%.

What OBD adapter are you using? And how much does BimmerCode costs? |

sunay27 I bought these and it works great. Not wireless but IMO less hassle with getting a connection, etc. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MECEI14 ~$17 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B099K2B2YJ ~$20 (there is also a 5% coupon)

Here's a question about Android Auto and idrive 7. There are two drivers and we set driver profiles with our own individual keys. Both of our android pixel phones are enabled with android auto. However the problem is if my wife used the car last, I have to manually go into "manage mobile" settings and disconnect her phone in order for me to connect to my android auto on my phone. Does anyone have experience with this and android auto. I called the genius line and they were not help.
The other thing is if we are both in the car together with our phones, the idrive 7 will merge all of our call history which is annoying. Is there a way to prioritize the key and driver profile so that only our information such as call logs, text etc are synced to our own key/driver profile? I also asked the genius line and they didn't know. Hoping someone has some experience with this. Thanks

My 2021 did not. Even though I just changed my rims I don’t worry about the possibility. Car break-ins are very rare around here. If it happens they are taking something visible through the windows or trying to take the entire vehicle! I can’t remember the last time I drove by a vehicle missing its wheels. I work in Philly and I drive through some rough areas when I go to the office. I have seen bullets fly so that scares me more!

Same. I didn't specifically order them so I just assumed it was a standard feature.

My 2021 did not and I'd rather they not. Its not going to stop a thief and in fact will barely slow them down. And its more just going to annoy the mechanic who has to hope you included the key in a quick to find place.

There’s a dedicated slot in the boot under the lift up floor where the locking wheel bolt adaptor lives, so not that hard to find. It’s where I’d look if I was looking for it.

I can't believe I can't figure this out but, what's the easiest way to turn off the parking sensors when going through a car wash?
(and yes, I know car washes are the devil to some) Thanks! |

For those of us who want to stay clear of Bimmercode (nothing wrong with it, it's just if one's not too savvy or want to tinker with it risking to ruin something, or having to buy the connector, etc.), what are the only options remaining for coding 2-3 simple things in the car? Asking the dealer nicely to do it?

Oh I'd like to know as well. I've only gone through a car wash a handful of times over 3yrs, but I've yet to figure it out either. It just beeps and bongs all the way down regardless of what I try.

From my experience a dealer will NOT code and I can't imagine they would do it for "free" if you could get one to agree to code. Bimmercode plus connectors would probably cost less than $75...... worst case, you buy it, use it, and sell it after you're done.
As for wheel locks, I don't like them. PITA in general and they don't stop professionals. Professionals would rather take the whole car and chop it behind closed doors. |
