I have a trim for that steering wheel too if you're interested.

I've seen conflicting information about this wheel. I just ordered one and want to make sure it's what I think it is. This is thicker than the standard sport wheel and the same size as the x3m one.

Trying to take off my existing wheel bolt and cant get it to budge whatever I do. Any tips? I thought airbag removal would be hardest but it came off in few minutes. I have been at the bolt for an hour now.

Some of the bolts now have loctite on them. You might have to get an impact and a 16mm on it.

Hey guys, seems I made a confusion and after reading this thread I assumed that if I had the buttons on my old sport steering wheel, the ones from an M5 sport steering wheel will work... Just that my G30 is non LCI and the steering wheel I bought is LCI.
My distronic and driver assistant plus no longer works. What can I do? This is the old steering wheel: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuOWNB6rFKDqgvcPpuT9nNDdKWHRiw This is the new one that I'm having issues with: -------- @sor - I am thinking of switching the internals over from my old wheel to the new one. But the thing is I want to keep the M5 trim on the bottom - the one that has the tiny cut. In your pictures, the decorative trim is made of 1 piece. Is the bottom part, by chance, detachable? Also, how do I take the decorative trim off? Took off the torx bolt on the bottom back, also those 2 plastic-holder-"things" on top, but the decorative trim is still stuck in the middle part of it. edit: even if I were to switch the internals from my old wheel and get the bottom part of the M5 trim going, don't think it'll work, as my old internals don't have heating. Ideally I would just make the new steering wheel work. Last edited by flo_sb; 02-04-2021 at 01:20 PM.. |

this is what @evolution42 thinks too, saying that on my non LCI, SP15 hardware/software platform the maximum I can get is Driving Assistant Plus, while the wheel is for LCI SP18, with Driver Assistant Professional, and probably the buttons are mapped differently.
A good bmw indie electrician that I spoke with said that the LIN bus is different and that it won't work. My guess is that what I would need is an addon module that I interconnect between the wheel and it's controller, that translates "new button address" to "old button address", but I guess no one does that and I don't know low level programming. Other sollutions? a. Isn't there a #2 steering wheel electronic control https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...62#32306884434 that works for both driver assist plus and professional and would be able to interpret the commands right? edit: there seem to be 2 modules that have both plus and proffessional version of driver assist, but none have heated steering as well :-/ b. Can I put the old, non LCI trim and buttons, on this LCI steering wheel? I'd really like to keep this wheel as it's new and got the nice stitching. How do I take off the trim to begin with? Got it off at the top and bottom, but it seems stuck in the middle. Last edited by flo_sb; 02-05-2021 at 01:45 PM.. |

swapping just the trim (with the multifunction switches) worked (while leaving all the other internals, including wiring, in place. so if I buy an M5 trim now with the heating button on it, and if I get https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=32306884434 and code the car with 248, guess that I will have heating too?
Though I wonder... I like the metal feel of the "scrollers" from the M5 LCI wheel... I understand that the M5 LCI wheel that I got has Driving Assistant Professional while mine only has Driving Assistant Plus. But I wonder. Wouldn't this kind of LCI wheel work on my car? https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuOWNB6rFKDqgvgQ...UW9_Q?e=843Gx1 Having had part of the wheel buttons work makes me think that the issue isn't LCI/SP18 platform that I don't have, but the fact that the Driver Assistant Professional Buttons send a "different address" when pressed. Question: I noticed some kind of soft rubber on the back of my old wheel, while on the M5 wheel it was missing. Saw this soft rubber thing is missing on lots of other ebay videos. What is that part supposed to do? Can I swap it over from my old wheel, or will I break it? Have googled the 309298610-AA part number but only found similar wheels. Here's a video of it: Another issue I can see is that this M5 LCI wheel has a kind of a dark grey-blueish accent to it, while my old wheel (and seems like all non LCI wheels) have black accent. This is visible on the trims too, and airbags. Oh and in case anyone wonders how to remove the decorative trim off the G30 M Sport Steering wheel, here it is: I for one spent a few hours googling for it, but couldn't find any info, so even if it's late over here and after a few beers I don't have my english vocabulary at hand, thought I'd make a video about it. yep... Busy retrofitting exterior M Package right now, but I'll definitely want to try out the LCI Driver assistant Plus steering wheel soon.
For the moment running with the M5 bare wheel, plus the M5 interior wiring, with the old steering wheel trim + button, everything works fine. I don't even have this piece on it, really curious to find out what it is / does as I don't feel any difference |

I want to upgrade my sport wheel by an m sport one, I need a non LCI one with heating and driving assistant plus. I may take a LCI wheel without trim and multifunction switch from one dealer and buttons and trim of non LCI separetly. Can you confirm that everything is working perfectly with no coding, especially the driving assistant plus features? By the way, thanks for your video on trim removal, it will be very helpful for sure. |

I compared LCI and non LCI on realoem.com, and parts seem to be the same except trim and multifunction switch. The wheels have different part number, but according to OP, 32-30-8-008-186 and 32-30-8-094-548 are equivalent. However, I would have a question with the airbag...According to OEM, I would need part 7855724 (Europe specific). This airbag is for G30, G01, G02 G11 G12 among others But for G14 G15 G05 G06, the wheel seems the same but airbag number is different, it is 8094575. Does anybody know if these airbags are interchangeable? They look so identical on photos...except the lighter grey seam on the 8094575. Any feedback would be appreciated Thank you |
