Off to my local place today to undo a small part of the mod and hopefully that will put me back where i want to be, close to stock with the valve closed and "fruity" with the valve open.

Will report back later today or tomorrow.

Reverted to stock on the non-valved side, so when the valve is closed (in comfort) the exhaust sounds more or less stock. Subdued when pressing on, but whisper quiet on cruise control at motorway speeds.

The valved side is effectively straight through though, so when in sport or sport+ the whole thing sounds so much better. Crackles, pops, and a proper straight six noise when you're "on it".

TL;DR
Almost as quiet as stock in Comfort/Eco
Fruity but not annoying in Sport/Sport+

Thats great thanks

Can you summarise the best way to do this MOD with PCW?

A video of your exhaust would also be very useful.

Cheers.

Hi mate it's already been summarised. Backbox mod on valved exhaust only to make internal pipes straight. No modification to non-valved exhaust.

Video is on PCW's insta and Facebook pages.

Thanks was the video before or after you reverted to stock on the valves side and is your car a 2018 model or the 2019 model with the PPF?

Or does is not matter at static I.e not under load?

But you feel it sounds better with only one side done?

Static isn't representative of driving - no load.
The PCW video is what it sounded like in sport with both sides modified, but it still sounds like that in sport with just one side done.
In comfort now it's barely louder than stock, but that's what I wanted.

I'll try and get a quick video later this morning... if I can capture the effect properly!

If you're anywhere near Gloucestershire you're welcome to come over and hear it first hand 😁

Has anyone with a PPF model actually done the fuse pull to keep the valve open? Does it make a difference at all (not during cold start),wouldnt mind a bit more sound on the overrun, as from what i've read sure the valve closes on a closed/partial throttle.

Yes I did and then undid it. It only makes a difference on cold start. Otherwise driving around having pulled the fuse is the same as sport / sport plus.

Exhaust tweaks

After reading many of the posts here...i took out both fuses on my 2 day old car.

On start-up, the exhaust (now open on the left also) is louder. After a while, it quietens down. So everything works as expected.

The problem with the ASD fuse - it affected my audio in the car and no sound came, so put it back.

The big question: how do i get the exhaust burble back????

Think the only way is to get a modification done to the exhaust, I'm looking at having mine done but will wait till at least after its first service.

Currently on my way back from a tour in Norway (it's my busy season at work!) but I'm very happy with the exhaust as it is now - effectively stock on the unvalved side and straight through on the valved side - with ASD disabled (through coding).
Barely louder than stock in comfort, but really fruity in sport/sport+

Done mine earlier. Initially I had straight through on non-valved side and part done on valved side. The resonance was indeed a bit too loud!

Then went to your set up with straight through on valved side and stock on non-valved. Sounds a lot better!

Anyone have a picture of the back box opened for surgery?

The ideal setup based on sideways comments (thanks for pioneering it all) is:

- Stock backbox
- Removal of resonator

Am I correct here?

Hi bud, no. The change is only to the back box:

Valved side: full mod
Unvalved side: stock

And yes price is £300. Paul has done 3 in total. 2 are with the setup above and 1 with both sides modded (that would be too loud for me as it generated a lot of resonance in the cabin that wasn't exhaust note, just noise)
