SQ5 coming, might give 35i competition?
http://www.leftlanenews.com/audi-sq5.html
looks pretty nice, and if it does get the 333HP engine, it might give the 35i a run for its money, probably about the same price loaded as a X3 35i with M Sport package. this just made my decision a lot more difficult as I do like the Audi. |

Q5
Just be certain you get the new water pump otherwise you are in the same boat as the BMW N54 owners were. Waiting for a recall whilst the parts are changed and changed - ad nausium.

I just saw this too...not sure what the 'S' will add to the car, but it's a much needed addition to the Q5 so it can even sort of compare to the 35i.

It looks good - makes the Q5 look a lot better to my eyes…and the 3 liter supercharged engine is a monster with surprisingly good fuel economy. It will make the Q5 a formidable competitor. You gotta love competition - it just makes cars better

It looks SMALL! Look at the rear cargo area......looks like it would compete more with the Infininti Fx 35 or 25.

This is going to be my wife's car that I might drive once a week, and she really prefers the colors the S line of Audi offers (bright blue, red, yellow...) and if their performance and features are similar and so is price, Audi might win this time. But thats okay as I am 90% sure my next sports car will be a BMW again, maybe M5xdrive (used in 3 years). |

If that motor does for the SQ5 what it did for the S4 - performance is going to be similar or better. I love our X3, but this SQ5 is going to be very good…as I said before competition is good…maybe BMW responds with a X3 35is or X3M. Its like watching automotive chess

Audi is deceptive with the size, it is bigger than a FX (not by much) I of course will do a stroller and bag check when comparing them as neither is meant for major cargo hauling.
I really wanted to get a new SUV this fall but it appears as though I might have to wait another year. If BMW introduces the 35D this fall they will get my money, if not I will wait and see how the Q5 S (sounds better) is priced and how the interior looks (if its like the S4 I might be sold on it). the 35D with M sport would probably win the engine battle though, similar performance and killer MPG. But competition is good, maybe a X3 35is or X3M will be on the way, you know BMW already knew a Q5 S and possibly Q5 RS were coming out. Maybe we will see the M3 next generation engine debut on a X3M (toned down from what a M3 will get), remember the new M5 is using the X5M engine, its like they use the SUVs to test the engines because the backlash on a bad engine will be less in a SUV then their traditional M5 and M3. |

Car and Driver now has their write up on this, possibly a Diesel SQ5, now that would be something.
"The SQ5 might be offered with a 310-hp, 3.0-liter V-6 diesel as an alternative to the gasoline-powered SQ5. This model's engine would be shared with upcoming diesel versions of the Audi S6 and S7. The sharp handling of the regular Q5—the 3.2 FSI model placed first in a comparison test—would seem to bode well for the SQ5’s dynamics. Unless BMW brings an M version of the X3 to market, the Audi SQ5 would be another nice step in achieving Audi’s “sportiest brand” aspirations." read the whole thing here: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/spi...os-future_cars |
