+1 Best split screen option IMO is greyscale facing north with traffic on the right (with Auto zoom when route selected) and direction of travel on bigger screen at 1-mile scale or greater (kicks in satellite imagery). That said, perspective view is pretty cool when downtown if you're zoomed in - a little gimmicky, but its accuracy of building shapes and sizes is incredible!

Not actually correct. There are 2 nav options here too. You need the large screen in aus to get the better dash.
And that's what I have just pulled the trigger on with the m sport package. |

Go to options when on nav. There is check box for satellite imagery (it's not realtime )

Now totally officially confused. Just drove a 28i that only had pro radio and the better dash was on the car. That is no nav at all. So maybe pro radio gives you the better dash buy if you upgrade to bus nav which has the same small screen they take the better dash away? They had a couple of cars like that

I've read both threads on this and it's a bit confusing. Are there two dashboards in the US also? I asked the dealership about this and they assured me there was only one dash...yeah, I tend to believe XBimmers! lol

If you have nav, your dash will have more digital representations of such things as energy regeneration, service info and turn by turn. If you don't have nav, it will be a simple layout with fewer bells and whistles. My current dash layout (I don't have nav) is very similar to my '09 3 series.

28 v 35 is the same. Doesn't matter which engine you get. Only thing that changes the gauge display is the addition of nav.

The X3 is so new that the salesman don't know the ins and outs of the car and all of its options yet. Your best source of info is going to be this forum, as the actual X3 owners know their car better than the CAs at this point.
MA78 is correct. My dealer has a demo 35i without nav, and it clearly has the needle for efficient dynamics at the bottom of the tach as depicted in colton's post. At one point they had a space grey 35i w/tech package that had the digital display for efficient dynamics, service interval, doors open, etc as shown at the bottom of his post. There are 2 different instrument clusters depending on whether you get nav or not. X3s with nav also have the larger 8.8" iDrive screen also. |

really... it's not THAT bad
I thought so before buying, but in the end, I'm pleased with the gauges. I did compare with a 5-series with the "new" dashboard the 6.5" screen of course hurts |
