X-line delete
Is there a code to delete X-Line in the USA? I want to get the sports package but don't like the silver trim around the windows.
Thanks! |

From what I've read, there is no delete option for North American orders. But I have no first hand experience. You could wait for the M Sport Package I guess.

I would ask the dealer if this is possible and then when he or she says no, ask them to ask their regional manager. I think it is possible but may take some effort on the part of your dealer.

Can't agree more, often times it involves dealers actually speaking with their managers as some options or features included in a package can be individually order by a sales associate

+1 Try to confirm everything your dealer tells you about options elsewhere because they are often wrong and don't know what they're talking about

Any info on this? And if so, how much does one save taking this option out of the Sports Pkg?
I also don't much care for the silver trim around the windows, but if I ask them to remove the x-line, is that *only* the silver trim around the windows? |

No update yet. I don't think it will save any money since it is a No Charge option overseas. I'm going to the X3 Difference event on Saturday and will ask then. |

The xline option in the UK includes the window surrounds, titanium look front and back bumpers and BMW door sills

sfax, you mention the BMW door sills, is that the little metal strip on the bottom of the car?
Our demo car had 'BMW' on bits of rubber inside of the sills, is this part of the Xline pack? TIA |

X Line. Powerful elegance: with the X Line equipment package. Beautifully satinated Aluminium trim finishes the window recess covers and is integrated into the fairing under the doors. Titanium-look panels on the front bumper add unique character and, on the rear bumper, harmonise with the aluminium panels visible when the tailgate is raised. The door sills are in stainless steel and feature BMW lettering.

So the black sill thingys with BMW on are part of the standard kit then? Sorry for the questions, but the BMW salesman said they were standard, but the demo had xline.

As MA78 said, they're not standard. More dealership buffoonery

I'm not sure about the UK, but you can't here. Well, not officially. You could always to a little work to find the part numbers and then try to install them yourself. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would be too difficult to install...but I may be wrong.

Once I understood the whole x-line package I realised it is not required on all colour combos. It's a definite requirement, even at the high ticket price, with black (external) for example, but a waste of money with white. Try the configurator and you will see, with light body colours the effect of the x-line is much diminished.

I rather like how it looks on mine. FWIW, I had black trim on my 328i. I liked it, but it doesn't hold up well over time. Within a year it was covered in micro swirls that no amount of detailing would remove. |
