I personally feel that the X3 is a bargain for what you are getting. I just priced a pretty stock xDrive28i with the following configurations:
X3 xDrive28i Jet Black Black Leatherette Xenon Headlights (with LED Corona Rings) $38,525 I know its pretty stripped down. You dont have the X-Line trim which looks pretty nice (wish there was Shadowline), the roof rails, and navi, BUT you get the following: -iDrive standard (same size as X5/X6 screen) -8-speed automatic standard -LED license plate lights -xDrive -8-way front power seats -ambiant light package standard -rain-sensing wipers -HD Radio I'd say compared with 2010 and older X3's they were getting ripped off pretty bad given the much improved quality of the 2nd gen model. I was looking at getting a 128i for about 35k, but why now when I can get a well stocked, much larger X3 xDrive28i with Xenons for 38k Just imagine the competitive pricing of the X1 when it comes out! BMW has another hit on their hands! |

Anyone notice they left the 19" wheel option out on the 35i? For that matter, I think they left out all the optional wheels. The order guide shows the 19" wheels with performance tires as a $600 option. Maybe they didn't have something ready in time for it to go up on the site?

head up display is an option! I want this to translate to the next 3 series (and maybe 1, but I doubt it)

The tool does not seem fully baked, IMHO. There are some options apparently left out, and I agree that if the M package is more than $ 3-4k , then an X5 SAV start making more sense, unless you need the power vs weight, or if you don't need the space...

But I bet there is some sort of upgrade for the Sport Activity Package 28i wheels that is not currently showing up on the configurator.

Adding nav also adds leather? it doesn't say that in the detail?
Also, wood time is only available in the $3k Premium package, but the pricing sheet listed it as a stand alone $0 option??? |

Usually M-Sport has a delayed introduction...
Makes no sense to me, but thats how they did it with the F10/F11. ------- As big as it is, this seems like a bargain. I choose just about every option and came out at just $53,000. Probably another $2,000 for M-Sport, I can't imagine previous generation x5 (nearly the exact same size as the new x3) 4.8is's were that cheap, granted they had v8, but still...

Either someone didn't think something through or the configurator has a mistake, because for $3,200 you can get the Technology Package which includes the Premium Package, or you can pay $3,450 for the Premium Package alone...
Edit: It looks like when you select the Technology Package it gives you half off the Premium Package? |

No gray interior option?????
NO GRAY? WHY? WHY?? WHY??? I don't like the sand/beige options, and oyster looks too off-white. What is up with that?
Bluewater with gray would have been very nice |

Production number received today
My advisor let me know my vehicle was assigned a production number. As it relates to value on choosing a car and the options that depends on personal preferences. I thought a 28i would be sufficient but I did not like the stock or wheels available on the sports activity package nor did I like the x-line trim so I ordered a 35i jet black, chestnut leather, wave wood, sunroof, roof rails, cargo net, split seat and it was $46k - about $7k cheaper than the x5 premium.

I agree, $50K++ for a car like this is crazy, it definitely starts getting close to the territory of some other very attractive alternatives that give you more space (and even amenities) than the X3 offers, plus with BMWNA screwing around with their maintenance program (as in been much less flexible with it) it just becomes very hard to justify to continue to be loyal to the brand...
