Brake pedal hard when getting in car in the morning

Hello All.

Does anyone have any experience with the brake pedal being hard when you get in the car after letting it sit for an extended period of time. I'm losing vacuum overnight it appears, if it sits for an hour or two the pedal is still softer. When you turn the car on the pedal immediately softens.

Based on my research I believe the problem is possibly a bad grommet/seal or some sort of bad valve.

Does anyone have experience with this? Easy DIY? Haven't seen anyone mentioning it specifically on the F25. Some fix it, others seam to just leave it alone and are told it's "normal"

Anyone have any insight?

Had this exact problem and traced it to a cracked vacuum line off the vacuum pump and a leaking (very slight) hose off the valve cover that goes to the rear muffler flap actuator. Verified the muffler flap actuator was not the source of the leak and that it was somewhere in the long run from the from of the vehicle to the rear which is why I ran the muffler in loud mode and plugged the valve cover. Both of those solved my problem. This was at 150k miles some 35k miles ago.

Well, over the past few days the pedal has seem to go back to normal when leaving the car off over night etc. May have just been a fluke...

The ONLY thing I did was open the brake fluid reservoir to make sure there was fluid in there, from then on the pedal was back to normal. Probably just coincidence.

If anything changes I'll come back and update.

You will notice it more in cold weather when the rubber lines are stiffer. I bet it comes back with temp change.

I'd assume you're correct. Fortunately in FL we don't get that much temperature variation. Stay tuned
