UPDATE!!!
Ambient Lighting works now. Took it to the dealership and they replaced one of the front passenger door LED modules. Total cost was $470 after tax (CAD) with parts and labor. The old LED Module which caused all the lights to stop working shorted out. |

Here is a link to how the repair works, don’t know if they had to code the new module. I think you have to just install the new module but I could be wrong. The water hit the module when they installed the tints and shorted it out. |

FYI - should be noted for all those reading… getting the windows tinted can DEFINITELY cause some issues with the led light strips. The most prevalent issue being “hot spots” after install… This has been noted in other threads. My suggestion to anyone reading these threads BEFORE You get your windows tinted is to make sure and say something to your installer (before they begin) to take a little extra precaution thereby getting as little water as possible spilled down in/in the window. I realized by nature of tint install, that’s tough to do:.. but even a little prevention would prob help.

Since I'm in NY and it is illegal anyway, I'll just leave it as no tints.... mainly because I don't want to deal with hot spot issue. |

Mine ended up with mild hot-spotting after I had the tint done… but not enough for me to have the dealer attempt to redo/replace. I’m all for things being perfect; but not at the risk of taking crap apart and causing even more issues to deal with (rattles, other broken things on accident, etc).

I can't get over the fact that to replace one whole LED light unit, you have to also re-address/sync the replacement unit.
Isn't there some kind of right to repair violation going on with that kind of requirement? |
