2019 X3 M40i Oil Type
Hi Everyone!
I got my X3 M40i last year and going to do my oil change DIY. I live in Socal, so just a dumb question, is 5W-40 Leichtlauf oil from Liqui Moly is the way to go? Or should I just stick to 0W-20 that the car recommends? Thanks in Advance! |

What does it say in iDrive if you pull up OIL types in the embedded owners manual built into iDrive? It should tell you what BMW recommends specifically for your BMW based on its VIN.

I did this exact thing. Not a fan of paying more for no reason, so I found the cheapest oil that met this standard.

I think the current version is LL-17 FE. I put in Castro’s Edge that met this criteria.

2019 M40i allows BMW LL-04 according to: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=48
I'd avoid 0W20 oil, rather use 5W30, 0W30. |
