If I was going to buy a pre owned vehicle out of state from a non bmw dealer. Could I ask the dealer who is selling it to drive it to a BMW dealer to have it inspected before I purchase? I checked and there is a BMW dealer 8 mins from the dealer who is selling car. Obviously I would pay BMW for the inspection.
I just want peace of mind since it’s out of warranty. |

I don't think a BMW dealer would inspect another dealer's car (especially non BMW). What incentive do they have to do this and a good job of it at that? |

No I forgot to say it’s a pre owned BMW X4 being sold from a non BMW dealer.

While it may be possible for BMW to CPO someone else's car, my second point is still valid: what's their incentive for doing so? Are BMW techs that lacking in work? If the X4's price has you hooked despite being out of state, it might be too good to be true. I'd personally opt for an in-state CPO (especially if there are issues)! |

I think he’s referring to a PPI and not a CPO inspection. I’d be leery of buying from any dealership that would not allow a PPI to be done. I’m sure the BMW dealership probably offers pre-purchase inspections, but at what cost and would it be cheaper to find an independent for something like that?

I never said anything about having them CPO the car.
It’s a dodge dealership, the X4 has only 25k miles and it’s a 2019 X4 so it can’t be CPO just talking inspection so I don’t buy it and then it needs engine mounts or anything expensive the following week. Last edited by Bimmerforlife; 05-06-2024 at 12:17 PM.. |

A low-mileage X4 from the first year of the current generation doesn't sound like a slam dunk. Let us know how it goes! |

so to answer why would a bmw dealer look at some other dealers car... because they wouldn't be doing it for free you might want to check into some other warranty company to have an extended warranty on it |

I've always wanted to try wheel spacers. I'd love to try a square set up after I use up my summer tires. Does anyone have a recommended brand that is safe to use and less prone to failure?

H&R seems to be the flavour of the day, I use Bimecc spacers.

Does anyone have a rattle coming from the lower part of the front doors?
My right front rattles like crazy towards the bottom where the storage is... especially over rougher roads. Has anyone had this and fixed it? Does anyone know how to remove the interior door panel?

Just purchased bimmerlink and hooked it to the car and found so many errors! The engine light is not ON and car doesn't have any symptoms. Even if I clear them they will come back. Should I be concerned?

Have you done any coding? The microphone error I've had since day 1 when I hooked up BlueDriver module to it.

I think there is a setting to calibrate the microphone, you repeat some words and it does the calibration. I believe this is connected to what you want the voice activation "name" to respond too, I did it when I first got the car. Last edited by ContactPatch; 05-15-2024 at 02:58 PM.. |

I hate to say the only way to be sure is to put everything back to stock and see what happens. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble if everything appears to be working. Your coding is a lot like mine, tomorrow I'll try to see if I can connect Bimmerlink or my OBD eleven device, which is supposed to be updated for better error detection.

Trivia question about the mild hybrid M40i engine system:
When you coast in Comfort (and sometimes at other times), the 48v battery is charged. When you brake hard, the brakes engage. When you brake gently, is it the brakes that start to brake immediately, or does the computer adjust the regenerative braking to slow the car?

Not a good apples-to-apples comparison yet but I connected my OBD Eleven device this morning. The car had been setting a couple of days so the battery voltage was at 11.5vdc. On the first pass it pulled up a bunch of errors, the most I've ever seen with that device. I decided to take the car out of the garage and run it for a few minutes to give the battery a bit of a charge. Brought it back in, shut it off, reconnected, and still had all the same errors, so they were stored. The battery did show at 13.9 on the app though. So I cleared the codes and only two came back - The Steering column switch cluster has been there forever, the microphone code vanished, and I have no idea WTH the Radio Remote Control Battery Undervoltage is all about. Also, this was the first time I had connected the device since I had my remote coding done after the last OTA update. I'll try Bimmerlink this afternoon if I can find my E-net adapter. One of the many errors (11) that it had was the drive readiness error, but that looks like the only overlap with yours and it wasn't persistent after clearing the codes.
