Is it G11 for M40i engine? That's weird. I had also big sediments and brown coolant, but because it was G12++ (pink) with "silicate" bag in the resevoir. Complete flush is necessary, including mechanical cleaning of the reservoir. Still it's a mystery what's in the radiator and heat exchanger.

Thats not good at all and will most likely need more than a flush. A brown color can be a result of some type of corrosion in your system. If that's the case flushing won't fix it. How long has it been since the coolant was flushed and was it filled with BMW coolant?
