Remove Airbox lid for Sound? (X3m)
Seen people doing cone filters, drop ins, and front mounts. The biggest change in sound from my experience is the box being opened or closed. Would opening the lid on the air box (effectively making it a CAI) cause any major faults? Would it provide the desired noise? Might try it for myself if nobody here has yet!

My first thought is that you'll probably be pulling in more hot air vs just leaving the cover on.

We did a project on this, going just cones and no box results the exact same temps, there's no change at all when moving, to your IAT's. I just have 50$ cones on my stock tubes. "heat soak" isn't a thing because of how fast the car is pulling in air. For some reason people think their engine bay is air tight and not moving at 100+CFM plus an intercooler.

I might try this, what size comes and did you use a coupler or just go to the stock tubing? |

And to be clear, no difference in IAT's (reminds me of my N54 set up)?

As an update to everyone, I’m going with the cone strat, I ran no top on the box for about a week and I can say it’s how it should have came stock (bar the ugliness that my dealer mentioned during an oil change) and feels exactly the same while doing the pshhhhtuuu occasionally. I still crave the EWG obnoxiousness so thank you @Jnat for that tip and link
