Switching to square setup from staggered - change rims?
Hi all,
Tired of run-flats on my car and want to switch to NRFs for better ride quality and to be able to rotate tyres. But I'm a bit confused by the requirements/options. My 2015 X3 F25 with M Sport package has a staggered OEM setup with 275/40/R19 run-flats on rear and 245/45/R19 on front. I basically need to change the whole set now but wasn't sure what is optimal and easiest for my car. I live in Australia so an all-year tyre is fine, no need for seasonal tyres. Should I go for a square setup matching the 245/45/R19 size for rear and front? Is so, will this require getting different rims for the rear? Or would the current rims work? Or is there a better alternative setup which will work without having to change rims? I want square, NRF setup so I can: - improve ride quality - boost tyre options (275 options are limited for this car in Aussie) - rotate tyres - keep one size spare in the garage for long hauls. Apart from that, would love to hear tips on tyre brands. Most people swear by Michelins but local people here push Bridgestone Potenzas and Continentals. Thanks for tips. |

Changing to a square setup requires matching wheels all around. I noted one of your criteria is ride quality. If by that you mean a more forgiving ride on rough roads, you'd be better off moving to 18's.
