I've just racked up another 600 highway miles, so I'm going to update my thoughts here as this seems like a great thread to do that.

The base model sound system - I can live with it, but it's really sub-par IMO.

Getting the headlights coded - we've had an unseasonably amount of coastal fog, and I'm convinced it was money well spent. Watching the auto-high beams work their magic is impressive.

Sport suspension vs comfort suspension, I greatly prefer the sport suspension for back road driving. Makes the car feel much more planted and makes up for the crappy Bridgestone RFTs. My 19 had the Pirelli RFTs and they were much better, but my 19 only had sport suspension as it wasn't an adaptive suspension. So not a great apples-to-apples comparison.

Road noise on the driver's side. I'm going to have to do something about that. When I'm alone in the car I can "over-ride" it with the music, but when my wife's with me and we're trying to engage in conversation, it's a PITA. BTW - it's worse when the car is traveling perpendicular to the wind and being hit broadside on the driver's side. She said my passenger side is as quiet as her Q5's driver side, even when getting hit with the win, so definitely seems to be a driver-side issue.

The road noise is indeed a bit bothersome... if you figure that out, share your thoughts please.

I will add on the suspension part... I am still not 100% clear on what the difference between comfort and sport mode is... both handle about the same to me altho one feels more wavy in the way it rides and the other feels more bouncy.

By auto high beams, are you referring to Anti-Dazzle? Those are two different things. The auto high beams feature is just turning on and off the high beams for you when the correct conditions are met. Anti-Dazzle is where your high beams stay on continuously when the correct conditions are met, and then when oncoming traffic or a vehicle is in front of you it'll create a tunneling effect adjusting the beam pattern to not blind them whilst still providing maximum illumination for you.

Anti-dazzle. Watching the headlights create that tunneling effect was something to see.

We had Anti-Dazzle re-coded on our '22 X5 45e as well, and completely agree with you. It's a huge world of a difference.

Can anyone who got Vernasca tell me if the door pulls are still hard plastic? Not sure what to call them, it's what you use to close the door when getting in. It bugs me every time I drive and I would get Oyster Vernasca if that piece is sensatec instead of plastic

I would be very interested in learning about your opinion between the X3M vs M40i comparison when you receive your M40i

I've had my m40i for abt a month now. Off the line it feels quicker than the x3m. It's actually a pretty quick suv I must say. It has a lot of useable power. Added bonus is better gas mileage. The x3m felt more planted on the road tho. Probably due to the better tires I had (Michelin ps4) the ride is more comfortable for my family in the m40i. The x3m is stiff. It didn't bother me one bit but my fam was often uncomfortable. Only thing I'm getting used to is the brakes. The m40i feels twitchy. The x3m the brake feel was nice and smooth

If I had one complaint is that I miss the sound from my x3m. The roar, the burbles was music to my ears. The m40i is more subdued

Overall no regrets. If you have the budget for an x3m you will be very happy. For me I loved it but this is more practical for me and my family

I want to add a few more impressions about the adaptive suspension today... i experimented with comfort vs sport in numerous circumstances today...

I noticed that on curvy environments, the car tends to lean less in turns with sport and is definitely less floaty... whether that translates to faster driving, I can't really tell. I can however state that in most circumstances the vehicle is far over rebounded and often feels like a pogo stick when driving over uneven roads. Sport mode tends to make the car wayy more bouncy to the point its just unnecessary.

In Comfort mode, the car leans a lot more on turns and indeed feels less sporty but shockingly it feels far more planted, less bouncy and just overall less jittery and more composed.

BMW really tuned this suspension weird... I would have given us a good passive suspension that works for most people because the setup here is just not that great.

It's really interesting... this video popped up on my feed today and they are the only ones that have kept the car long enough and commented that exact same statement with the busy suspension like I did (otherwise they love it)-

Yea. Although I don't mind the start/stop and the suspension feels really smooth to me. I do notice the car shut off as I'm coasting to a stop, but I haven't really had the problem they describe where I want to suddenly accelerate. There are the videos where people have clearly just borrowed the car from a dealer for a few hours and in some cases aren't even allowed to drive it. I'll watch those mostly just to see the car, but they can't truly give any real world opinions on it. I'm not sure I would have fully appreciated the lack of storage space in my M8 until I drove it for a bit for instance.

Cool, I found a thread about the 2023 X3 m40i suspension!
I completely agree in the Comfort mode setting I feel the suspension "more wavy" and in the Sport mode setting "more bouncy," especially on smooth highways going at 70 mph or more is most bounciest with body-roll when change lanes at this high speed. Thus, will exchanging out the front and back OEM anti-sway bars for the X3M OEM anti-sway bars reduce both the bouncy and the body-roll ???
Also, will this exchange be just a simple "plug-play" transplant or not

I agree with OPs post. HK stereos have sucked in every single BMW I’ve owned, but one is much better than the one in my F80 M3. I dropped the 21s for a set of light weight 20s and wow, what an improvement in overall control. The rear is now longer twerking over uneven surfaces. The m40 also feels much quicker and stops quite a bit shorter. Guess losing 15lbs per corner matters. Haha
