X3 M40i Suspension Options

Hi everyone! Know there have been some older threads on this topic, but thought I'd start a new one to re-up this conversation.

I purchased a CPO '19 X3 M40i this year, and have absolutely loved it so far. My only issue with the car is that it wasn't optioned with the adaptive suspension. From the dealership, on the base M-Sport suspension and run-flat tires, I found the ride to be way too rough around the city. To take a first step at resolving this, I swapped the factory run-flat tires with Michelin PS4S, which I can say have significantly improved the driving experience. The combination of less road noise, smoother ride, and improved handling have all been great.

That wasn't enough for me as I still found the stock suspension too rough for my liking. To take the next step, I went with the KW V3 coilovers (non EDC) which caught my interest due to the brand's reputation, as well as the adjustability in rebound, bump, and ride height settings. I dropped the X3 off at the shop yesterday to have the coilovers installed along with new suspension mounts.

I'll update this thread with pictures and my initial opinions once I get the car back this week. Can't wait for the new stance and improved suspension feel! Would love to hear about any other suspension setups X3 owners have tried.

Look forward to hearing how the new suspension feels. Out of curiosity what size wheels do you have on your m40i? I made the mistake of ordering without adaptive, but switched from 20 inch wheels to 19 inch wheels and that helped quite a bit (even on RFTs).

That’s great to hear. I have the 20 inch wheels on the car right now, 19s would definitely help with the ride as well. Something to consider for the future!
