M Sport Seats + Ventillated Seats

I've read through what I can find and I still have questions. I'm hoping you all can help. The configurator says that 1. It blows air (this is new to me I thought they pulled air down) and 2. It will remove the standard sport Seats (not and issue for me with the m sport Seats) 3. It will remove adjustable bolsters.

I was aware of the bolster removal in the normal models. I didn't think it would impact the m sport Seats until I read this.

Does anyone have a lci x3mc with ventillated m sport Seats? Do they still have adjustable bolsters?

A few questions if you don't mind:

Can you share some pictures?

Do you like the ventillation feature?

Do the fans in the seat make the seat feel less "cushiony" for lack of a better term?

I love the ventilated seat feature in my LCI X4MC. Ventilation makes no difference to the "cushiony" feeling AFAIK.
Some folks complain that they don't feel the cold blast of an A/C seat. This is true, but then when you ask them if they have a sweaty back after driving six hours through California, the answer is "no, not really." My point is that the subtle DRAWING air away from your back and butt does the job. Only drawback on the ventilated seats is that you can hear the fans running. There are at least five fans back there (that I have personally seen).
I do recall something about ventilated seats deleting the adjustable bolsters when I built my '22. Are bolsters in the seat back or the seat-seat? My bolsters in the seat back are indeed adjustable, but nothing to adjust in the seat-seat.

I'm starting to think the adjustable bolster delete was only on standard sport seats with ventillation. Not M Sport Seats. I'm referring to the bolsters in the seat back/sides. I've never heard of adjustable bolstering in the seat bottom. Would be nice though.

Tbh, if the ventilated seats weren't there in our '22, I wouldn't feel a difference. These are the weakest ventilated seats I've had in any vehicle with them.

I wondered why the ventilated seats are weaker but one thing I noticed is that the ventilation holes are much smaller than other cars that cool better. For a New York minute I actually considered trying to make the thousand (or whatever the count is) little holes bigger.

The cooled seats in our previous '20 Grand Cherokee & '23 Grand Cherokee were awesome. Usually just had it on low during TX summers. In the X3 we have it on high and barely feel anything. If I do it's only from the seat bottom and nothing from the seat backs.

I was thinking something similar…the M Sport Seats are different than the standard sport seat.

EDIT: yep, just checked the part database…these are TWO DIFFERENT seat options:

Standard Sport Seat:

M Sport Seat:

There are only 4 pretty small fans in the seat bottom and also 4 in the back, and they blow through part of the seat cushion and then the leather cover.
The fan speed can be increased a bit through coding but the small fans are only going to do so much...

I recall reading here that ventilated M seats use a a bit firmer foam and seats might be firmer than standard M seats.

I spent over 10 min in a brand new showroom car testing out the seats and then took it for a quick test drive. It didn’t have the ventilated seats and black leather was very firm but still good. Originally I added the ventilated seats option on my build. After finding out that the seats foam was even firmer on the ventilated version had the SA remove them before car went into build phase lock out. I have a bad mid-back and didn’t want to gamble on something that I did not test on a $90k purchase. If your back is fine then there should be no concern for going with the ventilated option.

I ordered tartufo which is supposedly the best leather option in bimmers. The firm seats broke in after 1500 miles and are perfect now. The lower left bolstering that dug into my left quad muscle also got softer and don’t have to crush the boys when I sit. I can man-spread now 😁

I tinted the entire car with XPEL ceramic plus including the windshield(90%) and do not have any sweating problems at all.

I'm sorry but some of you guys are getting it a touch wrong here. All the 4 little fans on the seat back do is pull warm air out (the warm air that gets trapped behind your back & the seat). So it's doesn't blow it actually sucks the warm moist air out & away from the seat you're sitting in.

Again, these seats don't blow any cool air on your back. If you think that's what ventilated seat are & or do, you might want to look into this further. All they do is prevent heat & moisture build up from a key area on on those hot & humid times. They make noise but wi the AC on & these on their full setting, they are pretty effective.

This may be true. The ventilated seats in the X3MC with extended marino leather are noticeably more firm than the non-ventilated seats with vernasca leather in my new M2. Same seats otherwise.

Please see Kevin's post a bit further up. He has it right. The fans do not blow, they suck air out.

Huh, wow... call me surprised.
Thanks for the correction... I obviously didn't know that

But, they do still move a pretty small volume of air.

Some BMW ventilated seats have 9 fans (sometimes found in vehicles with the extending thigh support which will have 5 fans in the bottom seat section + 4 fans in the upper section ), & some have 8 fans (4 each in the upper & lower seat).

"In order to prevent uncomfortable over-cooling of the seat surface, the active seat ventilation includes seat heating, which heats the air to a perfectly comfortable temperature." This is why they don't work so well. The vehicle doesn't know what a perfectly comfortable temperature is for me.

If I'm using the ventilation feature in cooler weather like if its raining/snowing...and my clothes/coat/jacket/pants/etc are wet/damp...using the ventilation and heat features in tandem can work to keep from getting a chill from wet clothing as the evaporation of moisture from your clothing and seat surfaces takes place.

There are times when heat & ventilation working together can be utilized. The ventilation feature can be used in seasons other than summer.
