diy paddle shifter install
I apologize if this has been covered before, but I’m a little hung up on the install of my autotecknic paddle shifters, specifically the blue clips for each shifter harness. I’m new to the f97 forum, coming from an ‘08 Lexus isf.
I’m a little weary of snapping the clips. Is there a specific area to apply pressure? TIA for any advice, as I’ve read that many have done this install with little/no issues, which makes it even more frustrating lol. I’ve attached a pic to assist in identifying what part I’m referring to. Again, thanks y’all. |

I just did this not long ago, and those plugs gave me a hard time too. I circled where I THINK they separate (going off memory, could be the other end of the plug but take a closer look it should be evident) and drew an arrow at the little tab that I think provides the resistance. Unintentionally I ended up deforming that tab slightly with a pick which might have helped pull the plugs apart. But other than that it just took some muscle to separate them.

I just finished this install and now have an M1/M2 cannot be activated message when I push either on the steering wheel. Do you guys have any tips on how to resolve?

This thread actually mentioned the same issue. When I initially started her up after the install and battery reconnection, mine wouldn’t respond. Moved the car back to the side of the garage, let her sit, and bam, worked again. I’d give it a little time and maybe go for a quick drive. |

Those blue clips are a bitch. Just keep at it and apply more pressure and wiggling as needed. You *probably* won't damage anything.
