MSS Clunk and Pop noise when turning

Okay, I’ve been on MSS springs about a month or more now. This noise is driving me crazy. In the vid link below the vehicle is jacked up on the pass side but not all the weight is completely off, tire is still on the ground. If I rotate the spring as you can see L to R there is slight movement and noise from the top bearing area. Veh has 30k and did not have this noise prior to MSS springs. Driver side is not doing it. Any ideas why it’s happening, I wouldn’t thing adding springs would damage the bearing, any thoughts? Would the top strut but have any affect on this? Many thanks for any suggestions! FYI, the noise as many others have also mentioned is only happening slow speed turns, into garage, parking space, driveways, etc. it’s a clunk, pop type noise and can also feel it transmit through the chassis or floorboard. TIA

Sounds like some nuts or bolts coming loose.
But, don't discount the fact that BMW top bearing been failing on strut type suspension, even at stock form.
I would check the top strut nut, sway bar link nuts, and tie rod nut to the spindle.
That doesn't sound like spring noise.

I agree, it sounds like strut bearing noise to me. I have purchased new TTY strut nuts and strut tower bolts, but haven’t put them on yet. Do you think a strut nut or 3 tower bolts could cause this slight movement and noise? Really appreciate the feedback and suggestions

Could be either one. Hard to tell without personally feeling it.
Also check the top mount bushing, could be worn out and have some play.

I am trying to get Vorshlag to make camber plate, but they are somewhat reluctant since they are not sure how the market going to be compared to G8x M2/M3/M4.

I fixed this by raising up the adjustments. Not enough compression and the spring binds.

Interesting! I’ve now tried about 15 or more adjustments, either rotating the spring itself and also raising and lower collar and it still happens. I’m beginning to think for some reason this strut mount is damaged, only because the driver side matches height of pass side and will not make the same noise or have as much movement when trying to rotate the spring L to R with my hands 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wouldnt be a BMW if it were easy.

Onnly other thing i can think of is the placement of the huge plastic washer that is provided.

Thanks, I see the plastic ring sitting on top of adjustment collar, and just below the spring. I did loosen and retorque strut nuts to 71NM and strut tower bolts to 28nm plus 90 degrees, and no change. I’m taking it to the shop next week. I’ll keep everyone posted, but suspect it may need new strut mounts. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!

Although I am in the wrong forum, I have this exact issue with my X5M, exact same noise, took it to BMW to look at and they said its not them its the Springs. your video confirms the exact sound I heard. I will be sure to follow this thread. I hear this same noise from 2mph to 18 but definitely when driving slowly ( parking lot speeds ). Any updates on your findings are appreciated.

Hmm, knowing how BMW tech diagnose things, hard to believe.
They will come to conclusion by blaming the aftermarket parts right of the bat once they see that the car is equipped with one.
I have seen many incidents where I ended up finding the problem was with the car’s build quality.

Hey Ben, Yea im going to a reputable aftermarket installer in my area to determine the issue. If its the MSS springs then I will replace them with H&R or ? - let me know if you can what you think is best other then MSS I was leaning towards H&R for cost reasons but let me know... My noise is exactly what I hear from the youtube video on this thread.. its super annoying.

Doubt the MSS.
All of the one that I’ve seen having noise issues are installation issue or BMW components failing.
I just took off 2 sets from 3 years old X5MC because their leases ended.
Both about 36k miles on it. No issue at all.

If you want something better than MSS, would be KW coilover.
You may have the same issue with KW HAS because it sits lower and much softer than MSS for F95 X5M.

if its not the springs then where would you point the techs to check so I can have them address it while its on the lift? If there are common items that it could be I can get them to start there. It makes a noise that sounds like rubbing. the link on this thread is exactly what I am hearing

I have to chime in on this. Before with the OEM springs and when I first had the MSS installed I had no noise issues, the noise stated once the springs settle. It's really annoying and IMO I believe it's the springs. Most of my friend went the H&R route and have on issues at all.
I only get the noise (on the passenger side) when backing up, turning the wheel while parked and when pulling out of a parking spot while turning the wheel. I kind of regret getting this kit and plan to go with the KW V3.
