Digital Key retrofit
Does anyone know if BMW will offer a retrofit program for the 22's that had the deletion of the Digital Key? I found an old document that looks like it was a digital key retrofit program for early production 2019 X5's. Wondering if they might do something like this again?

As noted by EugunePHD, the 2019 Service Bulletin was for handing out Digital Key Cards which weren't included when they produced the vehicle. They already had their NFC pads already.
For a good number of 2022 MY BMWs (All X3 and X4s, including M), they instated 32Z - Deletion of Digital key. Therefore they removed the NFC pad that should be where the wireless charger is located (in front of the cupholders), as well as the driver's side door handle with the NFC pad built-in. Therefore it will not be possible for them to offer an OEM retrofit program for the Digital Key. Do keep in mind that while we are able to retrofit both the NFC pad (with wiring) and NFC Door handle, the activation appears to require ConnectedDrive services, since they'll assign the NFC data much like a credit card via Over-the-air. And given that our cars were optioned with 32Z, we won't be able to activate them unless someone on the backend can make that change, should we ever attempt to retrofit it. |

You need additional components such as a radar module, dash driver camera, and other stuff. Can't recall if they got it to work, but I think it was expensive just for the parts, and that's before labour and programming (if possible). |

Did someone succeeded in getting this setup. My friend is about to pickup his 2022 m40i which is pretty much loaded, has all the packages, but he missed adding the wireless charger (which added digital key) to order. Dealer service centers are off today, so will try contacting them tomorrow, but wondering if someone knows it is easy to retrofit necessary hardware for NFC in door and wireless tray to get digital key working.

@bimmeroy, were you able to get any answers to the question? I have just picked up an X3 and the Digital Key and Wifi options were removed. Would like to add them back as a retrofit if possible.

Whoa that is really cool. So you were able to get BMW to enable digital keys somehow? Any chance the process is described somewhere?
