Tire/Wheels for higher hp/tq M40s
I am currently drag racing the vehicle once a month running a 12.06 @ 112.58mph. I make 442whp/483wtq currently. I am running stock 19x7.5s with all-season run flats.
I am installing my Dorch Stage 2 pump next month to run E mixes and should be in the 500whp/550wtq range. I am looking at a set of 20x8.5 wheels with 255/45/20 or 255/40/20 Michelin PS4S tires. Is anyone else running this setup on a 500+whp vehicle and the traction is enough? I'd rather not find out the tires are breaking loose and need to go bigger after buying this setup. Will these fit without spacers? I know absolutely nothing about wheels and while trying to learn, I am at a loss. Any help is appreciated. I included the picture because I can not tell if these will even fit. Thank you! |

Off topic but 112 is not so great of a trap for a 440 WHP vehicle... the weight really punishes this car... a stock X3M is still significantly faster than this somehow...

I run a 255/55/18 on a 18x8"et35 and they fit fine. Looks like it would be very close to your 255/45/20 setup.
Dealership complained about how close the tire was to the shock in the front, but there's no evidence of rubbing. |

goldfz8 has a sweet tire/wheel setup off his X3M (w spacers) currently for sale on the forum,he was able to achieve 1.4x 60' times......
Maybe the experts here will chime in if those would fit on you M40i

Hey All, Great runs.. your perfectly In line with where you should be at. For reference my stock x3m 510hp went 117mph. While you definitely don't need a drag radial setup and with 500whp you wouldn't do 1.4s as it takes me 700 lol. nittos are softer and if you intend on dig racing you might find out the hard way that no drag tires hurt cars when doing drag things. Also nittos are amazing. I use them year round in nyc.
