Ok so since I was pretty brutally honest the first time around I wanted to follow up with my impressions on xHP.
After nearly 500mi of various driving and even a track day at the drag strip I can say the adaption period is for sure a thing. I switched to stage 3 and the jerkiness in low gears has been minimized, the shift points seem to be much better and everything is slowly ironing itself out. I still utilize a -10% tq reduction on upshift for 1-2 and 2-3. I think this is still a really good idea for daily driving. Moderately hard accelerations are where xhp feels the clunkiest and this helps a lot. I have not tried drag mode yet and no new PR's to report back with. I plan to try grabbing a 100-200kmh or 60-130mph on the stock tune after service this week and then following it up with xHP stage 3. I'm not sure how it will pan out since the adaption period made a huge difference on times but if not I'll find a day where I can get as close to the same DA as possible and compare. I'll report back with any findings but it's getting better with time.

I know guys in b58s 8spds are running into trans issues after multiple drag mode sessions. Hopefully, our clutch packs are a bit more robust |

Bumping this back up. How are folks liking XHP? I am planing to stay stage 1 with BM3 and while I'm a XHP fanboy, not so sure I'm hearing glowing reviews on the OTS trans maps. I really wish Rod Suphtin would tune the 8sp, he works wonders on the 6sp. XHP stage 3 on my 340i has been phenominal. Just not sure they are going to put in the development time for the extra weight of the x3m vs the g8x

I just flashed mine today using the new BM3 wifi adapter. Went to stage 3 TCU flash (v1.1), which came 2 months after your post, and also had my tuner update my 93 octane stage 1 tune to incorporate xhp. It runs real nice. Super snappy shifts when in sport+ (S3) but when just driving around in comfort it feels like it's stock (which is good for me for normally driving around). Acceleration with this is noticably quicker, upshifts are barely felt. Will see how this helps with my 1/4 time on the e55 tune. |
