Missing circuit board?
Hey everyone! I’m kinda stumped with my 2013 f25… I noticed that my inner taillights were not lighting up, so I then changed the bulbs and still nothing…. I did some research to find out about these circuit boards, and people with the same issue saying that you can just replace them…. I ordered the ones for my car and went to install them only to realize my car doesn’t even have old ones?! I then took off the trim of the tailgate to see, if there was even a second wire that would plug into it, thinking someone just removed the boards but there’s no evidence of it…. There is the clip where it should be on the assembly but no chip…. I did more research and I can’t find anything about it missing circuit board nor an alternative fix… Is this normal for a 2013 x3 to not have one, if so what’s another fix? Thank you!!

Welcome to the forum...
The internet is so full of misinformation. A X3 with Halogen headlights does not have LED tail lights so no circuit boards. What type of headlights do you have? |

Thank you for responding so quick. I believe I do have halogen headlights originally, but on the tailgate there’s two bulbs… one for the reverse light (on top, which works) and the bottom one that won’t light… would you happen to know what it might be then? Thank you again!

Yeah! But I want to know why it’s never lit even with fog lights on or in reverse. Is there something I have to enable for it to turn on?

I still don't know why they were removed on so many US-spec cars, I imagine it's because many people would misuse them here. You might be able to code them to come on with the front fog lights but that would be super rude to traffic behind you if it's not foggy. |

Glad I found this thread. I have a UK spec 2015 BMW X3 2.0D with halagon headlamps. I wondered why the inner tailgate lights were not working, only to find they are my rear fog lights.
Doh! |
