Damage Assessment
My wife took her '21 X3 to our local BMW service center today for a nail in its tire..and it came back with damage that the SA admitted to my wife was caused by whoever pulled it into their service bay. He told her to bring it back next week and they can fix it. To me…it looks a bit more involved. Anyone with more experience with damage care to chime in on what the right way to fix this is? Even before this incident I would NEVER do business with this dealership. I bought my '22 M40i, and have a '23 X3MC on order from a dealership in a completely different state to avoid dealing with these people. We were in a situation though where we needed another run flat tire due to traveling over the weekend and they were the best option….and here's what happened.

I'd still report it to your insurance company with lots of pictures. I'd also find out which body shop BMW plans on taking it to...and visit them first. Then take it to at least two other body shops not only to get estimates BUT ALSO to ask exactly what it will take to fix...ie: body work, replacement, paint/blending etc etc.
Not that I don't trust people....but I don't...lol. The shop that damaged it has insurance for that sort of thing BUT you need to watch it every step of the way to make sure they do it exactly the right way! Sorry! |

I'm not from the USA but aren't the cars built in South Carolina????
I would have thought BMW stealerships in that State would be the best of the best because of that???? |

Once it is reported to the insurance company it will show up, as they report all claims. Similar to scratch and dent repair which is not reported if you pay out of pocket. Unless BMW does not report it, which I doubt, it will show up on Carfax.

I also got some damage and figure I’d use this thread.
I’m getting an estimate done on Monday at BMW of Greenwich but would like to have idea of how much you guys think I’m looking at. Also auto body shop you guys can recommend in NY. |

Hi
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I got my x3 back from having a new GPS aerial fitted and found these mysterious marks on the paintwork. They were hidden under a load of glue/sealant and when I removed the glue… there they were. Main BMW dealer did the work and to me it now looks like a soldering iron or similar has melted the paint. Issue raised with them and I’m ready for battle. J.
