50K spark plugs

just wondering if changing spark plugs at 50K is a definite "todo", and if you did , notice any difference?. I know these engines emit more carbon but just wondering if bmw is just trying to make more money?

I did plugs at around 45k miles when I got the vehicle. The plugs are easy to do on the B58 engine and take less than an hour and around 100 bucks in plugs.
