DP fix for PWG cat-sim
Thought I'd make a thread since I'm sure no other n55 x3 owner has messed with a dp fix (****** cat sim). I haven't had much luck with it. PWG for f-series has been said to work and not the EWG. I installed on the o2 sensor side and not the engine harness side using posi-taps. The black box has a blue LED thats either blinking or solid blue. The catalyst showed "ready" but got a DME active code and CEL shortly after. Which defeats the purpose. I'll give it a few more drive cycles.
Currently have catless DP and uninstalled mhd. http://www.******.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/iO2-installationrev2.pdf http://www.******.ca/io2-support/ http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-catless...-bmw-335i.html Last edited by E90705; 12-15-2018 at 09:08 AM.. |

All the research I have done says nothing has been found to work. It seems the best method is to install bootmod3 or mhd and make the codes shadow. I have a vrsf race cat and it still throws codes. Shoulda just went catless now that I have realized it still throws a code. I have yet to install either tuner myself. I'll prob go mhd soon and that should eliminate the light. GL

The best option is to tune it out even though you'll have cat monitor not ready. I used the x-ph designed by Ken (famous tuner on n54 platform) and it worked every time!

I see we're on the same page. Getting monitors to set a certain way. Tiago is being MIA, I contacted the original A74 and got a very quick response stating "other clones are not the same quality and offer inferior performance". Ordering the official catsim.

So was able to pass smog/ emissions with VRSF DP! Ended up having to remove and fiddle with the DP fix wiring separate times 3-4 times. Which meant taking apart the intake inlet and etc to access the o2 sensor wiring, (kinda a pita) but I can do I all over in under 5 mins.
Long story short I don't think it is meant to be permanently on. I got a CEL after the test and removed the fix. Didn't have to do any drive cycle I just drove around very easy. To re-wire the o2 sensor wire which is required to be cut, I used 18 awg wire stripper and 18 awg posi-lock to re-attach the wiring. I have the official a r e a 7 4 sim otw which I suppose I'll keep just in case as a backup. Re-flashed back to mhd stage 2+! No more codes from the cat sim. |

In case anyone wanted a side by side comparison of the a74 and the VRSF dp fix. Here they are: the A74 came with a static shielding ziplock bag where the VRSF one did not. The quality of the A74 wiring seems slightly a step above and is slightly smaller as well.

Update 2021 (passed again). Hooked up the area fifty one fix and flashed mhd to stock completely uninstalled. Wired up on the o2 side of the wiring. Easy fix! Use 20 gauge wire stripper for the wiring.
