NJ / NY Sun Film - PPF - Ceramic Referral Thread

Can we have folks name some shops, share pricing and possibly some photos of vehicles after work was done? Also feel free to let us know if we should stay away from certain shops!

I searched before creating this and couldn’t find a definitive thread that would guide new owners on pricing trends and which shops sre trustworthy.

Taking delivery of a fully loaded carbon black 30i in two weeks, thanks for all the suggestions.

I highly recommend Enthousiaste Auto Works in New Rochelle.
They have tinted 3 of my cars including the M40i. I have also gotten PPF there for a GLS 63 and the M40i ($2200 for full front).
All the jobs were done proper.

Detailers Domain in Northern NJ and Brad at Legendary Auto Salon in Queensbury. NY are also about as quality as you are going to get. Legendary would be my pick for quality, but he's not cheap.

You remember any rough pricing on previous work you’ve done? Thank you for the suggestions!

I took mine to trac ny. The guy Justin who runs it used to work at tintmax I believe. He’s based out of Westbury LI. i did full front ppf, 9h ceramic on the whole car and tinted my front windows. Got a good deal based on what I have seen others pay. If interested sent me a PM and I will send you his information. You can check out their instagram as well to see some of the cars they have done.

I do not. Each car is different, even if it's the same exact car and prep requirements can vary widely. Labor and skill is most of what you are paying for. Cheaper works just fine, but some have it down to an art. Brad is borderline as high end as they get. Blade never touches the car and he aims for an invisible seam install. Registered on carfax, warranty, etc.

It's best to inquire directly with shops for pricing.

DIY. A buddy of mine is a detailer back in South Florida (Star Coat Detail, highly recommend) who did a couple of my cars when I lived there.

He sent me a bottle of his product and instructions on what to do. Coated myself in the garage. Took a few days of prep, coating, and curing but I saved myself a ton.

It really is doable especially on a brand new car.

The hardest thing in a city atmosphere like where I live (near Hoboken, NJ) is having the space/covered parking to do ANYTHING to your car…

He uses Liquid Armor products. They held up very well on my previous cars. They sell 1 year and other non-“lifetime” versions to the public but I was able to get the stronger sauce from him as he is a distributor.

Process would typically include iron remover, strip wash, clay bar, paint correction, isopropyl alcohol wipe and then ceramic application. Bring my car had 15 miles and only traveled like 15 miles from the factory to the dealership I was able to skip the paint correction. The prep is critical and so is finding high spots before they set (not that they can’t be lightly hand polished out).

I've used onsite detailers in elmsford pretty consistently over the last few years (Think their website is getting redone, might be a little fussy)

I didn't PPF my car this time but I brought it straight to them for a detail, he's done PPF on a few friend's cars and irl they do flawless work. He'll also do paint correction if you want it, but if the car's brand new you probably won't need it.

I trust Sal a lot, he knows his stuff. If you call, ask for him. A workmate of mine took his pista there and the paint correction difference was nuts.

I know an Italian guy that’s been doing tints for over 20 years. He has his own garage and different types of films.

Like his own commercial garage or more of a home business? I might DM you for this contact info, the shops are charging an arm and a leg these days… I think it’s just the way the world is headed with inflation

For the NJ folx, I had an amazing experience with Felix from AlwaysClean Fair Lawn, NJ (before he started AlwaysClean Felix worked at TESLA in Springfield as the head of everything Detailing)

He is a bit expensive on his pricing, but the greatest customer service bar none. He also does EVERYTHING in house and doesn’t mind chatting/quoting over the phone. A bunch of the other places I have called seemed annoyed that I was asking questions… Customer service era is dead.
