Check it out
Yes, that's the normal price. I was asking about holiday sales, like 10% off that price for Presidents' Day, July 4th, things like that.

Right but some of the pipes have a cat in them — is it use that the pipes are less restrictive? Why wouldn’t BMW just make less restrictive pipes to begin with?

Aftermarket catted downpipes have less material. You count a cat by cell count. Most catted downpipes are 200-300cel. Which is like half that of a standard cat.

BMW has to comply with emissions and these cats may not sufficiently treat the exhaust gases going through them

Some catted downpipes will not set a CEL. Mine has twice already and almost immediately both times.

BMW and other car manufacturers are making cars safe for the environment. Typically the CEL count for BMW is around 600 it may vary a little by model maybe, I am not sure.

When car owners gets an aftermarket downpipe they go catless = 0 CEL which is "breaking the law" making your car illegal for normal road use. But it also provides the most power gains since there are 0 restrictions from the downpipe.

And going with a aftermarket catted downpipe is still "breaking the law" because you are not emissions complaint. But those downpipes have 200-300 CEL depending on brands. The 2 that I have mentioned in this thread post are both 200 CEL. So a lot more flow goes through them and we still are able to get extra HP. And a catted downpipe is like a happy medium. There are other advantages and disadvantages to both.

Thank you so much for the answer — that clears it up for me.

Thank you again, one more question. Would the Catted downpipe be considered having a “CAT”? Living in TN they look underneath the car to be sure you have one (but don’t check it).

Well yes. Catted does actually have a catalytic converter, however as previously stated it is sold for Off Road use only. So when your state or DMV inspector doesnt approve it, just let them know Suby01 said you have a CAT and youll be fine.

Tune it with a tuner which has a setting to ignore the cat efficiency code

I just reached out to Active Autowerke to confirm if their B58 downpipe is 100% compatible with the X3 M40i. If it is, I am going to buy it and install it. I couldn't find anyone else on the boards with one, so I may be the first.

AA b58 downpipe:

So for me the question would be - is it worth to pay more for Evolution Racewerks downpipe, if it brings A CEL just like cheaper VRSF or any other cheaper option? I leave answer with you :-)
You keep posting the same message on every thread. You are spamming the forums. Suppose you wish to have a conversation. Post it in 1 place, and we can have a conversation.

1- I never said ER does not trigger the check engine light; please post a link or screenshot to prove otherwise.

2- ER is handbuilt in the US; that's why it's more expensive than others. I have said such a bunch of times.

3- if you do not want a check engine light, you need to get downpipes with GESI or HJS cats. Active Autowerks is my favorite, and I have hundreds of posts recommending it for this reason.

4- we do not delete comments for no reason. We probably are one of the few websites that keep bad reviews and unhappy customers' comments.
Suppose we deleted your comment; it's for breaking the rules.
In your case, you are making false claims that we told you there was no CEL guarantee on the ER, and you fail to provide any proof for this claim.
