Will P0597 Code be covered by BMW N20 Engine Coolant Thermostat: Limited Warranty Ext
Hi,
Yesterday I've got P0597 code - " Thermostat Heater Control Circuit / OPEN" Code disappeared and popped another day (this is when I've checked for the code). Can someone tell me if will this be covered under BMW N20 Engine Coolant Thermostat: Limited Warranty Extension to 10 Years/120,000 Miles Based on the code it requires new Thermostat but of course BMW couldn't tell me anything over the phone and asking to bring the car for diag ($185). View post on imgur.com Car does not overheats and stays at about 1/4 of the temp gauge (forgot the F degrees). Additionally, I've checked the coolant and it was at the "min" level although I can't recall if this is how it was prior. Could I be certain that this code should correspond to the warranty extension? Otherwise I would rather spend that $185 on the local shop to have it replaced. X3 / 2013 / 104K Thoughts and thank you in advance |

You might have to pay the diagnostic fee. If it turns out to be the warrantied thermostat, there will should no charge. If it's something else, you have to pay the fee.

F25 (X3 xDrive28i) Model Years 2013, 2014 and 2015 produced from 3/3/2012 to 1/31/2015 My 2015 x3 just threw this code after scanning it at Autozone. I called 2 dealers and was told they cannot tell me if this work would be covered or not. You'd have to bring it in for diagnostics. Then they'll send the read codes to BMW and tell them if anything is covered under warranty. If it's covered, you won't pay anything. You'll pay the diagnostic fee if you choose not to get the repairs done. |

MY 2015 X3 thermostat failed at around 44k miles. Diagnostic fee is $199.95. Was quoted $568.59 to replace thermostat and asked for approval to start job. I had to mention the warranty on that part and it was covered. Diagnostic fee waived. $0 cost.
Was also quoted $594.50 to replace original battery from 2014! |
