MHD flash stage 1
Just recently purchased MHD super license and flashed to stage 1 for my 2016 X3 N55. I have installed a larger intercooler, metal charge pipe, high flow intake, stock down pipes, coils and plugs. Does anyone recommend running stage 2 without the high flow catless down pipe? Any negative effect or go for it?

You can do it. But the restrictive downpipe is going to slow down the overall response and may overheat the catalytic converter causing an O2 error code to pop.. Beyond that... Let it rip. I'm running Stage 2+ on my 2013 X5 35i and it's a beast.... If you decide to do it get 1 step colder plugs too... |

N55 crank pulley are press fit, and according to a BMW tech near my place, it's not rare that N55 got issue with it, specially in our climate, that can go from -26°C to 30°C in a matter of 3-4 months.
Even on a stage 1 I would do the capture kit https://vargasturbo.com/product/vtt-...-bolt-capture/ for the down pipe, I dont know too much about benefit on the N55, they are pretty fat from OEM, you can check E90/F30 section for more info. Instead of a super licence, you could have gone with backend flash MHD license and get a JB4, so you have a better control about stock downpipe and pushing more PSI. Probably cheaper than MHD SuperL + stage 2 maps and a down pipe. Im conviced that power difference wouldnt be that noticeable between those 2 options |

You did better with the super license... The JB4 Is a piece of garbage... Had one for a year and spent the whole time chasing phantom bs errors, with lots of expense to fix problems that were all solved the day I pulled that piece of S off my truck.... |

just sayin N55 are not the strongest bmw engines, jb4 add more safety than MHD alone. Custom back end flash are pretty nice. You can manually dial up the boost per rpm via jb4 and log. If you're serious about your logging, 100% sure you'll get most of your engine, with proper monitoring without having exactly MHD requirement mods. After few pulls and JB4 adjustment , some folks get their car professionally tuned after, and they get marginal gains. Pretty solid DIY safe tuning method, and if OP dont go with a DP, probably cheaper than MHD alone. |

It's all about your driving habits! If your type that likes to hammer the accelerator at every opportunity, then yes at some point problems will pop up, but if you drive moderately and use the mods sparingly, no reason unexpected issues will arise. Of course lots will depend on age and mileage of the car and how well the car is maintained.

so what "butt in seat" performance improvements are you feeling with the Stage 1?
I'm coming from a F32 with the B58 engine so with the weight and less powerful engine I am really missing the oomph...
