21" 718 wheel spacer questions

I'm going to replace my RFT with some Pilot Spot AS tires this year. Debating on going with X3M sizes or 255 fronts and 295-35-21 rears. Anyone have the 295 tires not spaced? Any rubbing issues on the strut? I'm assuming the X3M size shouldnt present problem as it's not as wide.

Would I need new lug bolts if I went with only a 3mm spacer just to give them a little more room near the strut assembly? I've heard 5mm is pushing it but 3mm should still give me 7-8 full turns on the lugs.

If I'm spaced 5mm or more, yes I should use longer bolts but if Im not spaced at all, Im wondering if I'll be OK with 295s in the rear. I just don't want to have to press in longer bolts and then someone makes a tire in a 275 and I dont need the spacers and have to put it back to how it was. Trying to avoid spacers if I can.

You have lug studs, you don't need to press in anything.

Thx. But how will longer nuts help since their length doesnt determine thread engagement. Spacers will take away from lug bolt length by the thickness of the spacers, no? Sorry if I'm not understanding.

So you're saying 295 will fit in the rear with NO spacers but I should get longer lug nuts? How much longer?

I was referring to needing longer lug studs if you add a spacer.

No spacers = stock lug nuts.

OK. Thank you. Spacers would need longer lug bolts and the right way to remove them is to press them out but I might be able to go 3mm and still have enough thread to get 6 turns.

So you do think I could go 295 in back with NO spacer and not have issues? I saw an X3M Comp at the dealer and the 255/40 front and 265/40 looked OK to me. I might just try those and stay stock and see what sizes are available when I wear those out in a few years.

Like I said, you don't need to press anything in or out. You just need longer lug bolts. These cars don't have tradition lug nuts where the studs stay attached to the wheel hub. The lug bolt itself can be longer or shorter.

And no, again, you don't need spacers to run 295. I have 295s installed.

Can I ask what size spacers you use?

Did you just put them on? Or did you have to get the camber adjusted for... etc...

Looking to do the install myself.

How are you running 295's on stock rims?

Just install spacers. That's it.

That is my exact setup…zero issues…no spacers…totally unnecessary unless except for aesthetic reasons

You also need to increase the fronts yes. 255/295

Only difference is I have 20" style 695's. Does the ability to use 255/295 only apply to the 21" option?

I know the sidewall aspect ratio is different, not sure if that makes a difference.

You would need to consult someone who has experience with 20" wheels. I can't say for sure. You need to ensure though that the new tire setup is within 1% circumference
