Steering wheel M buttons on an M40i

Does anyone know for sure if the X3MC steering wheel M buttons can be made to work plug and play on an M40i LCI ?

Physically they could fit but I’d want them to work as intended.

Anyone out there that’s had their airbag off seen if there is a plug on the wheel harness that these would plug into or is it a completely different harness from the X3MC.

I've had my steering wheel apart many times. I'm pretty certain you need a different wheel harness. Second, the buttons will do nothing for a non X3 M.
