Ordering new x3M40i Need Opinion on 21"
Hello gang.
Any thoughts on the 21" options with Brooklyn Grey? Are they too hard? Would you stay away from the RFT ? NYD |

I have a Phytonic Blue in 21s, loving them so far, Alenza RFTs and theyre not bad, i will probably switch to Michelin Pilot Sports 4s when its time to change tho, but can for sure live with the RFTs as it feels good in my book.
Previously I had a staggered 19s on my 4 series, Pirelli RFTs and they sucked big time, the tires made steering feel like a corolla, no disrespect to corolla, its just steering is very wobbly Now ill tell you, 21 staggered wheels, the tires alone without installation is about 2 grand, whereas 20 wheels is much cheaper Just my 2 cents, if I had the choice again, id probably go with the 20 in rims 21 looked nice but cost wise and staggered wheels wearing alot more in the back, will be costly if you have to fork out over a grand for just the rears Last edited by RocketBlink182; 04-27-2022 at 01:17 PM.. |

and to add on to that, Costco, Discount Tire are mostly sold out of 21 staggered tires sets and backordered, but when i look at 20 inch tires, theyre in stock.
So 21 staggered tires are less available too, so keep that in mind, so if you have a flat, you might have to leave it in shop for a while or use tire slime for a few days |

Would suggest 20 inchers. I have no issues with the 20" RFTs myself, it is a good balance in terms of handling and comfort.

Let’s face it, the M40i just looks like a 2 litre without 21” wheels.
They are standard in Europe for a reason……….. |

I went 20s again on my 22 mainly because the 21in tires are hard to come by, they are a little rougher ride (imo), and I really don't trust the "run flat". There are plenty of tire options for the 20s(non rf) and they are smoother in my opinion. I spec'd the non rf with spare again with my 22. I don't care about the added hump, I care more about the peace of mind having a spare as I've had 3 separate punctures for my 2019 alone not to mention my other vehicles.

Just do a Google search you will find a lot of pics. It doesn't bother me personally as it raises the load height. For others it takes away too much space. You can decide on your own.
