Roof wrap vinyl vs PPF
Hey, guys, contemplating of having the roof with the spoiler wrapped in gloss black on my AW, do you think it’s worth it to go with PPF over vinyl(3M/Oracle/Avery) or not really? Thank you.

*Edit: Completely forgot the F97s have the option to pano delete! So that shouldn't be a concern if you don't have one… very jealous of this option and wish I could delete the pano from my M40i on order |

Than you for the insight. The place I went to(which I do like their work very much) actually recommended PPF but not sure if it’s the money push or not. And I actually have the pano roof 🥺.

I had three really honest and candid shops tell me that it definitely isn't worth it. The likelihood of a chip on the roof is next to none (outside of hail which it still won't stop damage from) and the cost difference I was quoted between vinyl and PPF was at least $600-800!!! Best vinyl quote was for $500 and came with ceramic coating.

I don't think op is interested in chip protection. He wants the look. Vinyl is junk. My son did the roof of his STI in gloss black vinyl. Not even a year has gone by and it looks terrible and he used the best vinyl you can get. Use PPF.

I did my f80 with 3M gloss black, loved it, held up for the 2 years I had it, and it was an outdoor car.

I've had mine wrapped gloss black on my X4MC for 2 years and it still looks great!

PPF will age better than vinyl and provide better protection beyond typical touch marks.
Try to find an installer that does STEK in your area. They offer designer films in various colors, including CF and gloss black. |

I've looked around for someone to STEK my roof, none of them will touch it because of the sunroof and how thick stek is, so annoying. I found places down south will gladly do it.
